Malibu Shark Attack - SyFy Original Movie

The onscreen predators "are based on a species called goblin sharks, which don't look like your normal great white," Bradley tells us.
"They're very fearsome-looking creatures. Ours are actually larger than the real thing, but modeled on them for the look that the CG company created. People do catch these things, but ours are monsters that get released from a big underground cavern during a sea-quake. The resulting tsunami washes them ashore. Not only do car parks and basements get flooded, but we have sharks inside the buildings as well. There's a recipe for something cool there."

On January 25, officials from the Tokyo Sea Life Park discovered the 4.3-foot-long (1.3-meter-long) creature during an expedition with local fishermen. The shark had been tangled in fishing nets 500 to 650 feet (150 to 200 meters) deep. But the animal died on the morning of January 27 after being put on display for the public.
There is not a lot to know about these prehistoric creatures!

From Publishers Weekly
The cover of this grisly book about Pacific Coast shark attacks cautions that the volume contains graphic photos, but it's the matter-of-fact, dry reporting of each shark attack that makes this volume particularly gruesome. Collier, president of the Shark Research Committee in California, details every known shark attack in the area-the majority of which seemed to have occurred between northern California and Oregon. Each entry is identified by its case number (going from number 1 in 1926 to 108 in 1999), and each contains medical records and quotations from the survivors. In 1991, Eric Larsen remembers being attacked by a 25-foot Great White north of Santa Cruz: "I hoped it was an Elephant Seal, when I looked down to see teeth and a huge mouth wrapped around my left leg." A map of the attack accompanies the narrative, as well as a photo of the beach and of his wounds. Most of the cases involved surfers and divers, few were casual swimmers. Collier closes his book with chapters and graphs discussing shark attack statistics. As a document of attacks alone, the book is shockingly absorbing.

Malibu Lifeguards Are In Alert For A Possible Shark Attack
Just two days before the movie premiered on SyFy
On Friday, July 24, Malibu lifeguards were on alert for a possible shark attack in Malibu, due to a shark spotting that occurred the day before.According to county lifeguard Capt. Terry Harvey, the sighting should not come as a surprise to people.
The species of shark is unknown. Reports say the shark was as close as 500 feet from Surf-Rider Beach.
Coincidentally enough, the shark sighting occurred only two days before tonight's premier of the TV movie Malibu Shark Attack on the SyFy Channel, which features a goblin shark attack on Malibu.
Sharks are deadly creatures and are not to be trifled with. Never provoke a shark or intentionally put yourself in a position in which you are likely to be attacked.

How To Avoid A Shark Attack
It is wise to check all the warnings at the beach before you go in to swim. Avoiding a nasty shark attack is very important. So, how can you avoid a shark attack? Well, here are some tips and advise on how to stay save and away from these deadly sea creatures:1. Try to stay away from the mouths of rivers after a heavy rain.
2. Try to swim away from fishing boats. They have trails of fresh fish blood or waste.
3. This is obvious but still important, don't go to the water if you are bleeding (this included woman's period). If you get injured in the water get out fast!
4. Avoid large groups of fish, seals, sea lions or dolphins... These are part of the sharks menu!
5. Stay out of the water at dusk, dawn and night time!
6. Avoid musky waters, harbor entrances and steep drop offs, sharks love these places.
7. Don't wear high contrast clothing, like orange and yellow colors. This will attract the sharks easily.
8. Refrain from excessive splashing.
9. Swim, surf or dive with a group of people. Sharks often attack isolated people.
10. Don't wander too far from the shore.

What To Do If Attacked By A Shark
1. First of all, avoid using your bare hands and feet. Try to concentrate the blows on the shark's eyes, gills or snout. These are very sensitive areas.
2. If the sharks get you in it's mouth, be aggressively as possible. Don't play dead, this won't work with sharks. Fight for your life, the shark may get tired and leave you alone.
3. As soon as you can, get out of the water calmly and swiftly as possible.
4. Get medical attention fast
HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A SHARK BEFORE?
