Why a Malibu Pilates Chair?
Wunda Chair
I have to say that nothing can beat going to a Pilates studio and having a qualified instructor give you a workout on a Pilates Reformer or a proper Wunda-chair, but that's not within the budget of many of us. Here in the UK where I live, I don't think there's a reformer studio within 200 miles! We all teach matwork Pilates up here, which is based on Joseph's original Pilates ideas, except that all his stuff was done with machines.
Still, we do the best we can and the exercises that we teach are amazingly beneficial for your core, posture, your back and your legs - in fact it teaches you to move and use your whole body differently. The Malibu Pilates Chair takes basic Pilates exercises and makes them more challenging, for faster toning and increased calorie burn. The models on screen in the DVD make the exercises look easy as they really do have incredible core stability - that Susan Lucci looks absolute fantastic - "All My Children", my foot! I only have one child and I don't look anything like that!
Malibu Pilates Chair Exercises
Buns, Thighs, Legs and Arms
The Malibu Pilates Chair will do this for you if you use it, and one of the ideas behind the Malibu Pilates Chair is to add some cardio exercise to your Pilates routine, thus burning more calories than just with Pilates on its own. Personally, I would watch the DVD through first before getting onto my Malibu Pilates Chair to do the workout, as it very hard to do a Pilates exercise properly while craning your neck around to look at the TV screen. JP would have a fit! Used in a variety of positions the Malibu Pilates Chair can be used to strengthen and tone most of your body; arms, shoulders, chest, back, abs, waist, hips, thighs and calves. Did I leave anything out?
Is The Malibu Pilates Chair Uncomfortable?
It's Supposed To Be!
The Malibu Pilates Chair comes with a total of 4 DVDs, an Eating Right guide and wallchart. The company claims that you can lose at least one dress size in 10 days and that the Pilates Chair lifts, firms, sculpts and burns (calories, we assume). I'm not sure how much actual cardio you will get from using the Pilates Chair, but you will definitely get the lifting, firming and sculpting. The Chair comes in at $220, but has try-before-you-buy option -- you can send it back after 30 days if you're not happy with it, and get a refund.
As a piece of exercise equipment, I like the Malibu Pilates Chair. Used regularly, correctly and carefully it should definitely make a difference to your body.

The T-bow
Tbow - The best single piece of exercise equipment you can buy today
You're interested in Home Exercise Equipment and Pilates. The Malibu Pilates Chair is a great piece of equipment but if you want the very latest in Home Exercise equipment why don't you take a look at the T-Bow?I love them and have bought over 20 so that I can use them in my own Pilates classes. This fantastic piece of equipment is so small you can stow it underneath your bed but so versatile that you can do cardio, strength training and also stretch on it.
The great thing about it is that you only need your own body weight and an exercise band (which is optional).
This is functional training at it's best. If you would like to see more pictures and a video of this great piece of kit in action please click the T-Bow
link.
The Firm's Wave
If you can't but a T-Bow
I have to say I love the T-Bow. I've bought over 20 of them to use in our Pilates classes and they are fantastic.
The main advantage of the T-Bow over the Wave is that the T-Bow will stack (because of the shape of the Wave it won't) now for myself that's important as I need to store them in a small space.
If you are a home user that isn't going to be a problem for you so the Wave at about $90 + P&P would probably be OK. I also think the T-Bow is better constructed as it was designed for studio use, again for you not a problem.
The T-Bow (if you could get one) retails at £89-00 - $150 + Taxes (VAT or your local ones) + P&P and comes with a small booklet nothing else. The Wave comes with a stack of DVD's, wallchart and healthy eating guide.
So if you love the T-Bow but can't get one why not check out the Wave instead?

- Love the info on the Malibu Pilates Chair. A lot of pilates instructors like to put down commercial equipment, but in my opinion as long as you are using the pilates principles you've learned from a pilates instructor...you can get a true, effective pilates workout on any of these machines. It took me awhile to not be so "snobby" about non-commercial, non-studio machines. While those machines do last longer and feel a bit different, the truth is, if you have a good base of pilates training, this pilates chair will be a great piece to have at home. Looking forward to reading more of your lenses.
