Easy And Delicious Malted Milk Cookies

Malted Milk Cookies are an easy and delicious cookie recipe. I never thought to add malted milk powder to cookies, but the malted milk powder adds a rich component to these cookies which gives them their great flavor. If you love malted milk balls, this is the cookie for you. These taste like malted milk balls in cookie form. I now make these on a regular basis for my daughter, who loves anything malted. If you are having trouble finding malted milk powder, it can be found in the local market, usually next to the powdered hot chocolate or coffee creamers. Now it's time to grab the malted milk powder and start baking up a batch. To make a more decadent cookie, you can also top each cookie with crushed up malted milk ball candies and sprinkle on top of the frosting.

Malted Milk Cookies

List Of Ingredients:

2 cups packed brown sugar
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1/3 cup sour cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 eggs
4 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup natural-flavor malted milk powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
Malted Milk Frosting (recipe follows)

Steps Needed To Make Malted Milk Cookies:

Heat the oven to 375ºF.

In a large bowl of an electric mixer, with the mixer set at medium speed, beat the brown sugar, butter, sour cream, vanilla extract and eggs, or you can mix with a spoon. Stir in the remaining ingredients except the Malted Milk Frosting.

Working with one-third of the dough at a time, on a lightly floured surface, roll the dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut dough into 2 1/2-inch rounds. Place the rounds about 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake for 10 to 11 minutes or until almost no indentation remains when touched in the center. Immediately remove cookies from cookie sheet to wire racks. Cool completely. Coat with the Malted Milk Frosting.

Malted Milk Frosting

3 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup natural-flavor malted milk powder
1/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
3 to 4 tablespoons milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Whip all ingredients until smooth and spreadable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cooky Book replaces destroyed copy, May 6, 2011

I have never in my life been as happy with a book purchase as when I received The Betty Crocker Cookie cookbook...my original copy from the 1970's was partially destroyed by a very angry Yorkie. I was devasted as I had used this cookbook for 40 years. This "NEW" copy is exactly like the old one! Every cookie in the book, and I have tried most of these recipes over the years, is easy to make and the photos are very helpful as to size, shape, decorating, etc. Love It! Love It! Love IT! I love malted milk, so these do sound very good to me. Might have to come back some time and copy the recipe. I don't bake very often, because I live a lone and just wouldn't eat it all. I do like to have cookies and milk now and then though. I dunk!

Standing about 15 inches high, jutting out a foot, and weighing more than a grown woman's bowling ball, this stand mixer isn't the sort of appliance you'll wipe down and put away. Better to find a square foot of free counter space for easy access; besides, this machine is as pretty as it is rugged--you'll want to show it off.

* Tilt-back head for easy access to mixture
* 2-piece pouring shield with large chute for adding ingredients
