Who is 'Mama'?

Hello, I am Lanelle, AKA 'Mama'.

My family and friends mean everything; what they say matters to me. I can always depend on them to tell me...what is on their minds...what they are really thinking...how they truly feel. They have made my life an educational journey. I have become who I am and know what I know because of the people who surround me...my family and my friends. They are my best critics, hence the name, 'Mama's Critics'.

I am...
A stay- at home Mama (for 13 years), living in the heartland.
A mama to 6 wonderful, unique children, ages 1-16
A self-taught cook/ "chef"

I enjoy...
Cooking
Baking and cake decorating
Sewing and doing crafts
Traveling and recreation
Entertaining adults and children
Homesteading
Gardening
Beekeeping
Eating well, exercising, and staying healthy
Reading to learn
Reading to my children
Watching movies
Playing games with my children
...and much more.

Finally,...
I enjoy writing about all these things and sharing what I learn with others.

Who are "Mama's Critics"?

Let me introduce them to you!

Mama's Critics are my family. They naturally give their opinions to me, especially my family. Instead of scolding them for their complaints, I ask them to tell me how I can improve on what I cook, where we go, what we do, etc. We grow closer, and improve ourselves in the process. Then,

Mama's Critics are my friends. I try to surround myself with honest friends, who will give me their feedback, good or bad. That's not as easy to get from friends, but they do their best.

I take that information and share it with others on Mama's Critics.

I have very unique family and friends. My husband and each of my children have varying talents and interests. That gives me a lot to write about.
My friends, well they are all exceptional. I especially like to hear what they have to say, because, frankly they are a little nicer and less whiny than my kids.

Mama's Critics are...my family and friends.

Let me introduce them all to you!

Chris-

Being Mama's 'most experienced critic' and husband, Chris, is straight forward in his approach. I always know what he likes and doesn't like. Seafood is his favorite food and he hates peanut butter! He loves to play with the kids and is very involved in their activities. Chris enjoys homesteading, gardening, beekeeping, coaching lacrosse, doing home improvement projects, watching movies, reading non-fiction books, and spending time with 'Mama'.

Jacob-

Age 17.
Being Mama's 'biggest critic' takes up a lot of Jacob's time! He always tells it like it is and there is never any doubt about what he is thinking. He is a bottomless pit when it comes to food and will eat just about anything. He enjoys playing guitar (electric and acoustic), listening to music, writing songs and poetry, running cross country, cooking, watching TV and hanging out with his friends in his church youth group. Jacob is always the 'funny one' of the bunch.

Zachary-

Age 15.
Being Mama's 'empathetic critic', he will eat nearly anything and not complain. Zachary is home schooled and likes to play video games, play on the computer, read books, and watch movies. He plays electric bass guitar and enjoys martial arts. His church youth group and home school friends are very important to him. Zachary is thinking of becoming a Squidoo Lensmaster!

Graham-

Age 15.
Being Mama's 'gentle critic', he never tells me he doesn't like something, unless encouraged to. If he doesn't care for something, he tells me "it was okay" and what he doesn't like about it, in a very nice way. Graham likes computer games, playing his Xbox 360, watching movies, reading books, and playing lacrosse. He also enjoys going to his church youth group activities. Graham is also thinking of becoming a Squidoo Lensmaster!

Hannah-

Age 12.
Being Mama's 'eager critic', she is always ready to give me her best advice, especially in the kitchen. Hannah insists she doesn't like cooked vegetables, but eats them anyway. She enjoys playing basketball. She likes riding horses, reading books, and playing with her American Girl Dolls. She loves to help in the kitchen; using her cooking and baking skills. Beekeeping is her favorite homesteading project. Hannah is an awesome big sister to Kaylan and Nathan and enjoys her friends in her church youth group.

Kaylan-

Age 10.
Being Mama's 'helpful critic', Kaylan always gives her input and helps out whenever she can. She doesn't eat much, but will try nearly any dish set in front of her. She enjoys playing with her American Girl Dolls, playing in her dollhouse, sewing, knitting, crafts, cooking, baking, dressing up, and watching movies. She enjoys to read stories of adventure and people who lived in the past like Laura Ingles Books, Anne of Green Gables, and any of the American Girl Books. She loves the outdoors and will go outside nearly any chance she gets. Kaylan is home schooled. Her friends in our home school group and her big sister, Hannah, are important to her.

Nathan-

Age 3.
Being Mama's 'youngest critic', I can't believe he is 3 years old already! He has a big personality and imitates his siblings a lot. He gets his hands in anything that is going on; cooking, gardening, beekeeping, fruit picking, etc. He likes to sing, dance, and be the center of attention. Nathan also loves working with his hands; Legos, Lincoln Logs, and Play Doh are his favorites! If there is a ball to be tossed, he is there! He is a busy little guy. He loves the meat and sweet foods, but will also eat his veggies.

Friends and Extended Family-

Being one of Mama's 'guest critics' can be a fun job to have. They get to come to a get-together and tell me what they think. How often do you get to give your opinion about a party to the hostess of the party? I love to hear what they have to say and take their advice very seriously.

You!

Being one of Mama's 'online critics' can be loads of fun. You get to tell me what you think. What you think of my cooking/baking, the toys we choose, books we read, movies we see, the trips we take, and so on. Just make a comment! I want to hear from you!

I would like to know what you are thinking, write a short message and let me know!
