Great Lens, very informative. When i was younger my shaving habits were bad, now that i'm older, i'm wiser and i try to repair the damage i cause to my skin. I followed some of the many tips you mention, though if i have more money i could follow them all.

I bought the TwinLuxe Smooth Shave Cream and Renewing Face Wash & Scrub after reading your reviews. Oh my .... I absolutely agree with your review. I've gotten closer and smoother shaves. And after using the TwinLuxe face wash scrub for a week, I've noticed my skin is looks healthier and smoother, and a lot of my mild acne has begun to disappear. Thank you DonVito for this very informative Squidoo page!

I've never used a straight razor, but have vivid memories of my grandpa shaving with a straight razor. From lathering up with the soap and brush, to sharpening his razor on the leather strop, to the sound it would make when he was actually shaving. Definitely a lost art!

I went to TwinLuxe website and noticed they have 5 other skincare products. Are you ever going to review those too? I'm interested in trying their other products sometime.

If you really want to get a great shave without spending a lot of money I recommend buying Stephan Smooth Shave Cream. It comes in a 16oz container and only costs between $4 - $5. It's great for sensitive skin and smells really fantastic.
  • svarun Sep 18, 2010 @ 5:11 pm | delete
With this razors your skin will be allways smooth.
  • Nick_Sharkey Jul 29, 2010 @ 9:17 am | delete
I bought the Art of Shaving unscented starter kit. I liked everything but the tiny badger brush that came with it. Still though, it's a great value. I also recently purchased the Merkur 178 classic, shouldn't have waited so long! It's a fabulous razor that gives me great shaves daily. Great lens! Thanks for sharing!
  • Jim Aug 6, 2009 @ 3:42 pm | delete
I bought the Art of Shaving starter kit. The sandalwood scented kit smells great but mild, and the products are all high quality. However, I seem to get a closer shave if I simply use the badger hair brush to apply a little soap (Dove unscented for sensitive skin). I have an extremely thick beard, and I can only use a disposable razor twice, at most.

I found a much better shaving cream its Bee Royal Shaving cream for men, it has been around since 1970 for dark skin and African American skin. Originally marketed as Tamara and now as Bee Royal, but the same company and the cost is only 7.95 way cheaper than all the rest listed above and a strong track record. I buy Bee Royal Shaving Cream for MEN!
