VoIP - Advantages and Disadvantages

We discuss the pros and cons of VoIP

In case you are wondering what exactly VOIP phones are we are here to clear all doubts associated. VOIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol and a VOIP phone is basically a fancy term for what is known as the Internet Phone. That is really all that is there to it.

Do you need VoIP for your business?

Cost effectiveness is Popularity

The reason behind its popularity is its cost effectiveness. It is a lot cheaper than the traditional phone and a cell phone. In fact the longer the distance of the call you make, the cheaper and for you obviously, the better.

VOIP has a disadvantage but, it is a rather minor one. The problem is with the voice reception and clarity. This however remains minor in nature as with advances in technology a solution to this impediment is expected shortly. Another problem is that calls made via VOIP will suffer disconnection in case the VOIP service provider suffers a power shortage. So, even if you are in the middle of a conversation, the line will get cut no matter what you do in case there is a power failure.

VOIP phones depend on the Internet for their working; therefore it is more susceptible to hacking or wiretapping. There is not a high probability of such a thing happening but you may suffer if it does happen indeed, especially if you own a business or were using it for that purpose.

Analog to Digital

It works by converting the analog signals into digital signals and then sending the data through the Internet to the receiver. The same happens when the receiver sends back information.
