Personal Stress Management
Most of us experience stress in different ways and our symptoms are also different. So when we suddenly begin to have headaches due to overworking, or stomach problems, and aches and pain in our joints we must be able to tell that these are all sign of stress.
Next you will need to identify the causes of stress in your life. This is an important step because if you do not know what is causing you to feel stressed then how can you begin to address it?
Pay attention to those moments you feel stressed.
Recognize what is happening around you, who is there, what you are doing, where you are, and even the time of day. Make a careful note of these things.
Ideally, you should write them down so that you remember.
Once you have identified the causes of your stress now you can take action to relieve your stress.
It is important to note that not all stress is avoidable so in some cases you may have to concentrate on reducing your stress. Here are some way you can manage you level of stress:
- Realize that you cannot control everything. There will always be things and events that happen in your life that you will not be able to control, especially someone else's behavior. So stay focused on that which you can control, including the way you react to problems.
- Don't be afraid to say no. Many people get themselves stressed because they cannot say no to someone. Do not take on more responsibilities than you can handle.
- Whether you like it or not there are people in our lives that stress us out, do your best to avoid them when possible.
- One key element in stress management is taking control of your immediate environment. So if watching a particular program on television fills you with anxiety then switch off the television. If being in traffic gets you uptight then try a different route or go out at a different time when traffic is not so heavy.
- Make a list of things you need to do each day. By having a list in order of importance you will get more done. One main source of stress is being disorganized. Be careful however that you do not list too many things to be done. Revise your schedule throughout the day to make sure you are not setting yourself up for stress.
- Be positive about each situation you face. This helps you to stay focused and not be overwhelmed by events.
- Take the time to relax. There are many different relaxation techniques that you can use to get yourself relaxed no matter where you are. All you need is a few minutes.
Hypnosis for stress management
Some people use it in conjunction with other methods of stress management or by itself.
Usually hypnosis is used either as a first approach or when other treatment methods have failed to yield any results.
Through hypnosis you will be able to differentiate the good and bad stressors in your life.
Stress can be a good thing if it causes you to go beyond your present state to achieve new heights. It can be bad is it causes you serious problems.
With hypnosis you will learn some relaxation techniques and remain calm when faced with stressful situations. It will help you to change your negative feelings and thoughts into more positive ones.
You will learn to easily identify those things in your life that act as trigger for your stress which is important if you want to manage your stress effectively.

Managing holiday stress
From the trips to be taken, visits to relative, decorating, preparing dinner to presents it can be too much for the average person to deal with.
Here are some ways you can manage your holiday stress:
- Stick to a routine. This will make it easier for you to get through the things to be done and prevent you from feeling overwhelmed.
- Do not try to do too much. Normally during the holidays there are many things to do, especially if you have planned a special event. One way to approach is to do what you can and delegate the rest of the work. Get your family involved in the process and you will alleviate some of the stress.
- Make out and stick to a budget. Holidays are usually a time of spending and many people tend to overspend and then find themselves stressed out because of it. So decide on the amount of money you will spend for the holidays without affecting your finances too much and how that money will be spent.
- Take time out every now and then throughout the day. Things can get really hectic so to avoid or to deal with stress take some time for yourself. Do some deep breathing or some other relaxation technique to keep yourself calm.
Stress can cause a myriad of problems if you let it take root and not do something about it. By employing some stress management you can take control over your life and in some ways your environment.
