Whatever your reasons for visiting Manchester, you'll not be disappointed as it has something for everyone.

If you love shopping then go along to one of the many craft fairs or special markets that take place throughout the year. From farmers markets where you can find every type of cheese, cooked meat or chutneys to the lively German markets held during the run up to Christmas.

If the nightlife is more to your taste you're sure to find a pub or club that caters for you.

Getting Around Manchester

Manchester city centre is a compact, bustling hive of activity with every conceivable shop and business crammed into its tightly packed streets.

Getting around the centre is best done on foot, especially if you are visiting Manchester as a tourist and staying in one of the many excellent city centre hotels. Why? Simply because you don't know what surprises you'll discover around every street corner.

If you are planning to go further afield then like most modern cities, Manchester has a wealth of transport options, from the metro system through to its excellent bus and rail links.

Manchester Chinatown

If you're looking for a great day out, head over to Manchester Chinatown. Lying just around the corner from the Midland Hotel it is easy to reach on foot.

It has a breathtaking number of shops, restaurants and businesses serving up everything you could imagine from the mysterious Orient.

While you're there, browse some of the chinese shops that are tucked away, hidden in the basement of some of the restaurants and offices. Here you'll discover an aladdins cave of Far Eastern trinkets, good luck charms and traditional Chinese jade jewellery. You could even learn how to speak Chinese!

Sport in Manchester

Manchester is home to some of the greatest sporting venues anywhere on the planet.

Manchester United need no introduction and tours around the impressive Old Trafford ground can be taken.

The Commonwealth Games were held in Manchester back in 2002, with over 4000 competitors from 72 nations taking part.

The Beijing Olympics saw the Manchester based cycling team win an impressive 14 medals, including 8 gold.

Possibly the greatest ever cricket team, Lancashire (tongue firmly in cheek!) is based in Manchester at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground.

Manchester Chinese Restaurant

Introducing The International Buffet Restaurant

The International Buffet restaurant dominates one corner of the bustling Manchester Chinatown. Offering a wide selection of authentic Chinese dishes as well as some more Western dishes you can eat as much or as little as you like. I've tried many a Bolton restaurant but none so far have provided a truly authentic chinese meal. For that, I recommend the International buffet!
