Manchester United FC - or among fans The Red Devils - is a professional football club, playing in the English Premier League. In terms of popularity, Manchester United FC is number one among all football clubs in the world, with a fan base believed to be over 50 million supporters world wide. In terms of league titles and cup wins - they are still behind a few other clubs in England and Europe.

Manchester United FC is the reigning Premier League Champions, and have won the league a total of 16 times. In addition they have won the domestic cups, the FA Cup and the League Cup, 11 and 2 times respectively.

In European football they have won the UEFA Champions League twice, and the UEFA Cupwinners Cup (now the UEFA cup) once.

Manchester United FC play their home games at the Old Trafford Stadium, a 76,000 all-seater capacity stadium, and the clubs home ground since 1910. Old Trafford is the biggest club stadium in England, and the only one to hold a UEFA 5-star rating.

The owner of Manchester United FC is Red Football Ltd., an investment company formed by US businessman Malcolm Glazer, with the aim to take over the club. This happened in May and June of 2005. The Glazer family has been heavily critisised after the takeover, among other things for securing massive debts on the clubs assets, taking up in excess of £60M a year in interest payments alone.

Manchester United FC is managed by Sir Alex Ferguson, who has managed the club for over 20 years, and been in charge of more than 1,100 games played. Sir Alex Ferguson is, with no comparison, the most successful football manager in the world, having won more trophies than any other manager.

Team captain is Gary Neville, a right back who has been first choice in his position for both the club and the England team for more than a decade.

Other key players in the squad are: Edwin Van Der Sar (GK), Rio Ferdinand (D), Cristiano Ronaldo (M) and Wayne Rooney (A).
