Educate, not legislate!
Chances are I won't be in favor of very many laws that strip rights from private citizens, require more government funding and intrusion into our lives and homes, and are backed by fanatical terrorist organizations.
You can do your best to change my mind with an intelligent comment below.
Will it really help?
How can it be enforced? Are there going to be door-to-door inspections, will they subpeona veterinary records, or will it be implemented on a "random" basis? Anonymous tip line? Breed biased selection?
How will it be funded? If Bob Barker has spent millions endorsing this, how many hundreds of thousands of animals could have been spayed or neutered through a low-cost clinic, VOLUNTARILY, by their low income owners?
What's in it for the animals? The "mutt" is one of the hardiest creatures. In contrast, many "pure" breeds are plagued by disabilities and diseases within the pedigreed and prestigious bloodlines ... why should a purebred dog be given the "right" to procreate when it could be inferior to another dog without papers to identify its lineage?
Pets for all, or for the privileged? Will people who cannot afford the costs involved with this legislation turn to setting their animals free? Who pays for taking care of the feral animal problem? What happens to the prices of pets and related services?
PeTA has never been about anything but ending all animal use, including the enslavement of pets.
I repeat ...
PeTA has never been about anything but ENDING ALL ANIMAL USE:
No hunting or fishing.
No beef, pork or chicken.
No leather or wool.
No zoos, no horseback riding.
No milk, butter or eggs.

sassy kitty does not approve!

Is spaying/neutering your own pet a good idea? Probably. Should we tell our government we want more control over our own personal lives and those of our neighbors? I don't think so.

One of thousands
On June 15, 2005, North Carolina police arrested two PeTA employees after they tossed trash bags containing the bodies of 18 dead pets into a shopping-center dumpster, after previously finding dead animals in the same dumpster. Police also recovered 13 additional dead animals from the PeTA-owned van in which the two were traveling, bringing the total body count to 93. Witnesses from the Ahoskie Animal Hospital and the Bertie County Animal Shelter confirmed the two had collected the animals with the promise that PeTA would take them back to Virginia and find them adoptive homes.
"... We thought we had an organization that was helping us to try to find homes for them ... That was the goal, not to have that [euthanasia] happen. We had been told by PeTA that, yes, they would try to find homes for them." -- Dr. Patrick Proctor DVM, testifying in the trial against the PeTA employees who took healthy cats from his clinic, only to kill them while their van idled in the animal shelter parking lot a short time later.
Shocked? Don't be. Not counting the dogs and cats PeTA spayed and neutered, the group put to death over 90 percent of the animals it took in during 2005 alone, a figure far in excess of the worst-run animal shelters anywhere in the nation.
