Manga Tutorials: About The Tutorials On This Lens
All of the tutorials here are MANGA related, hopefully I will find quite a few tutorials over time to put up here, all tutorials are hosted on other websites, they are SAFE. Tutorials are hosted on several different websites, not just one, keep that in mind.
Please let me know what you think in the guest book, and if you have a manga tutorial or know of one, please let me know.
Found a broken link? Go to my lensmaster page and "contact me" with the name of the link, thanks! ;)
The Different Labels On The Manga Tutorials, What Do They Mean?
The difference is...
There are three types of manga tutorials on this lens, the about tutorials and the step-by-step tutorials, and Example Tutorials now, you may be asking what the difference is, so here it is:About tutorials: Are pages crated with text and pictures on the particular subject without a step 1, step 2 basis. about tutorials have information points, tips, and examples, this way you are not focused on drawing a particular style every time, these allow you to expand out on your own more.
Now not saying there is anything wrong with Step-by-step tutorials, They are good too!
Step-by-step tutorials are tutorials on drawing particular things, and they show you how to step-by-step, being easy for some people. breaking down the lines into small actions makes it easier to follow what people are doing, and therefor more helpful.
Example Tutorials are picture tutorials with little or no text, these are already drawn and you do not see the progress but just the end, but for learning different styles, methods and designs.
There is both kinds of tutorials on this lens, feel free to check them out and let me know if this lens was helpful to you in the guest book at the bottom.
These tutorials are gathered to help you easily practice your manga, not so you may copy or claim any of the art, not so you can trace any of the images. Tracing is WONG, period, no two ways about it.
To improve it takes years of hours of hard work, dedication and practice... this lens can help you skip the finding tutorials part of it.
Manga Tutorials: Manga Head Tutorials
I rate the tutorials from 1-5, 5 being the most helpful while 1 would be the least.
Every tutorial could be helpful for a different person, so if you don't find a manga tutorial for you try another, I rate the tutorials on quality, on how easy they are to follow, and they're ability to explain what they are doing and how to do it in the tutorial.
- Drawing A Manga Head, Total Break Down.
- This tutorial is a a clean tutorial of a professional quality.
Learn how to draw a manga head front view, and three quarter view! I don't think that this is where you should get all of your knowledge and proportions from, but they are helpful for when your first starting, personally I think their proportions are slightly off, but since every artist is different and has their own unique styles, this is no concern.
This is a step-by-step tutorial.
I rate this tutorial at 31/2 stars, because it is helpful, but on the other hand, I don't completely agree with the proportions. - Drawing a Manga Head Tutorial by MermaidUnderSea on deviantArt
- This tutorial is simple, short, and helpful. Not as many steps as beginners would like to see but helpful none the less. The tutorial is clean, and is easy to see, there is no words in this tutorial, it's strictly pictures, but that works for some, not for others, give it a try!
This is a step-by-step tutorial.
3 stars! - 3 Quarter View, Manga Head Tutorial by xandria-tchebbi on deviantArt
- Traditional tutorial, clean. You are shown how to draw the manga head at a 3 quarter view, as well as the hair and facial features. (although the character seems to be based on some sort of elf guy maybe?) It still is a good tutorial.
It's all pictures, 8 steps... (being a above average tutorial).
Personal Note: The way the person draws, the drawing are very angular, that is a style... although, it's not my preferred style.
This is a step-by-step tutorial.
4 stars, based on length, clean appearance, and accuracy. - Drawing a Bishounen Face by Lancha
- This tutorial is a two step tutorial but did prove helpful!
Both male and female examples, although set as a step-by-step tutorial I think it's more of a about tutorial. Clean, easy to read.
This is a tutorial that is both an about tutorial and a step-by-step tutorial.
I rate this tutorial at 3 stars! - Anime Face+Head Tutorial by Katongougakyuu
- Well, I have to start off by saying this tutorial is small, not short but small.
The pictures are not very big but they are helpful! I personally love the tutorial but I have to take away because of the size of it. :(
Draw several different characters, tons of explanation, and two different angles, front view and 3/4 view, funny in-between clips! LOL! Great tutorial over all!
This is a step-by-step tutorial,
I rate this tutorial at 41/2 stars! - How to Draw Basic Manga by RyceBowl
- This tutorial is clean, easy to follow, and fun!
The tutorial is almost self explanatory, but after scrolling down I did realize that there are instructions to the tutorial, under the tutorial it's self.
Great length, very good!
This is a step-by-step tutorial,
I rate this tutorial at 4 stars! - How To Draw A Manga Head (Girl)
- This tutorial is awesome, very simple, clean, and easy to follow. The tutorial teaches you how to draw a manga girl head step by step including drawing the different features of the face. There is plenty of explanation on what they are doing and tons of pictures, great tutorial!

Manga Turorial: How To Draw Manga Expressions
How to Draw a Manga Face: Expressions
The basic idea of drawing facial expressions is to play with the shapes and positions of the eyebrows, eyes (including eyelids) and the mouth. By varying how these features look, you can come up with different expressions. In this video, I draw a handful of expressions and show you the basics of coming up with your own. Enjoy!
