8 Steps to Beautiful Nails!
- 1. Wash your hands with soap and water. Wipe off any old polish with a cotton pad soaked in an acetone polish remover.
- 2. Use a fine-grade emery board to gently shape nails. Keep the file on the white part of your nail. Fild from each side toward the center, but moving the emery board in one direction only. (Note: If you want to shorten long nails ASAP, use a clipper. Be sure to file any sharp edges.)
- 3. Smooth the edges of your nails and the surface ridges with a round buffing disc. Don't overdo the buffing, remember that buffing removes layers of the nail.
- 4. Massage a conditioning cuticle oil all around the edges of your nails, paying special attention to hangnails. Then soak hands in warm, soapy water. Towel dry.
- 5. Apply cuticle remover lotion to the sides and base of nails. Cover the top of an orangewood stick with cotton. Use the stick or a damp washcloth and gently pursh back cuticles. Then remove excess lotion from your nails with a cotton pad soaked in polish remover.
- 6. Brush on a clear base coat. Allow to dry for one minute.
- 7. Apply two coats of nail polish. Clean up outside-the-lines polish with a cotton swab dipped in remover.
- 8. To give your handiwork staying power, apply a clear top coat. Some top coats are quick-drying. If yours isn't, seal your shade with a speed-drying spray.
