Man's Enemy Comes More From Within Than From Without. Our Own Ego Is The Source Of All Our Failures. Those Who Conquer Their Ego Can Change A Living Hell Into A Living Heaven And Thus Experience Heaven on Earth

Man's enemy, in the form of his ego, starts to form itself right from the moment after birth. All of our beliefs whether they come from our surroundings, from our own experiences or are enforced upon us by others all contribute to the creation of the person that we believe ourselves to be. While we exist in this mind set our soul is sleeping. When our soul begins to awaken  we start to realize that by allowing the ego to grow we cannot find true happiness. It is at this time that the heart starts to question the ego and we embark upon a quest for that happiness which the divine creator intended us to have. This is the period in which the soul experiences awakening.

It is the awakening of the soul which is mentioned in the Bible, 'Unless the soul is born again it will not enter the kingdom of heaven'. Being born again means that the soul is awakened after having come on earth, and entering the kingdom of heaven means that this world, the same kingdom in which we are standing just now, turns into heaven as soon as the point of view has changed.

Is it not interesting and most wonderful to think that the same earth we walk on is earth to one person and heaven to another? And it is still more interesting to notice that it is we who change it; we change it from earth into heaven, or we change it otherwise. This change comes not by study, nor by anything else, but only by the changing of our point of view.

The greatest of all man's enemies is his own ego to which we bear witness in the form of man's selfishness for even when he is striving to do good, by kind deeds, selfishness is more often than not the underlying motivator.

Man will do good so that one day he may be repaid in kind, even if by some inexplicable miracle and, thus, his investment will be returned to him.

In reality his precious pearls are all priced but good deed, an act of kindness is too valuable to barter with. When giving we must learn to shut our eyes.

Every generous act, no matter how great or small and seeingly inconsequential, we must perform whole heartedly, unreservedly, with no regret and with no desire for any form of payment or recognition. To do so would make the kind act a mere trade off.

Satisfaction must start and end with the perfomance of the deed of kindness and generosity for their own sake and nothing more. We must remember that every kind act that we do for man or beast, in actual fact, is an offering to God and God cannot be fooled by our ulterior motives.

When we realize that matter is nothing we begin to find true happiness. All forms of matter will disintigrate but the part of us that is God given will continue for all eternity.

Here is a great source of Spiritual Writings

Soul Progress
Soul Progress is a site run by an American spiritual group who have dedicated themselves to living the principles of the heart. I invite you to read some of their works and see if you like what you read. Often by reading our soul is not so much looking for a creed to follow but rather it is looking for a way to challenge itself into looking deeper and asking new questions which will help it's transit to higher levels.
