Help find a cure!
You might ask what is Mantle Cell lymphoma?
Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a B-cell lymphoma that
gets its name because mantle cell tumors are composed
of cells that come from the "mantle" zone of the lymph
node. Frequently, MCL is diagnosed as a stage 4 disease,
often present in lymph nodes above and below the
diaphragm and in most cases involves the gastrointestinal
tract and bone marrow. MCL is a relatively rare disease,
constituting only about 6% of all NHL cases in the United
States (ie.only about 3,000 cases per year in the U.S.). This
lymphoma usually affects men over the age of 60. (Expert review by:
Owen A. O'Connor, M.D., Ph.D., Director Lymphoid Development and Malignancy Program, Chief of Lymphoma Service,
Columbia University, Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, New York, NY.
Julie M. Vose, M.D., Chief of the Oncology/Hematology Section, Department of Internal Medicine, University of Nebraska)
Medical Center, Omaha, NE.
Recently, my husband Ken, was diagnosed with this rare blood cancer. They are doing a series of 6 Chemo treatments to help kill the cancer. The treatments are called Chop-R.
My goal is to raise $5,000.00 by the end of March to by given to the Lymphoma Research Foundation to help aide the research for Mantel Cell Lymphoma or MCL for short.
I want to be able to make the community at large aware that MCL is out there and to date there is no cure, but with research that can change. Research takes funds. Funds take people who care.
Cream Chicken and Biscuit Dinner
A Cream Chicken and Biscuit Fundraising Dinner planned for March
Dinner includes Creamed chicken and gravy over biscuits, mashed potatoes, green beans or corn, dessert and beverage. Take outs are available. Take outs do not include beverage.
Tickets are on sale at all Burn's Drug Stores and are available at the door.
There will be face paintings for the kids and a Chinese auction will be held.
