- Another excellent lens. I used to be very good at drawing and naming the countries of the world. That was when I was in high school. It's been a long time between then and now and with some of the country names changing, I'm not up-to-date. Thanks for giving me the push I needed to get up-to-date. Blessed. Bear hugs, Frankster

- Great Lens! I have worked in the mapping industry for over 30 years and used to be able to label all the countries of the world and states/provinces of North America - but have let those skills slip - time to go back and freshen up my skills - thanks for the inspiration.

- I'm a Social Studies teacher and incorporate lots of map skills into my history classes. One way I have used to help my students see how much they learn over the course of the year is to have them label a blank map with everything they know at the beginning of the year. I keep these on file and at the end of the year give the same assignment. Students are amazed when they compare the two.
By the way I've been asked to do the same thing myself at the beginning of a geography institute I attended. Being confronted with a blank sheet of paper and told to draw and label the world with 30 or so other teachers sitting around you is a little daunting. By the end of the week all of us were much better at it.

- I've always liked reading maps, but I doubt very much if I could 'draw' a map of the world. Geography has always interested me, though, and maps are a basic beginning in learning about any country or area. Another well done teaching aid, Evelyn. You are marvelous at this. ~~Blessed by a SquidAngel~~

- A great lens. Recently I saw in television where they asked some people about the location of some german cities and to point them on a blank map. It really happend that some of them didn't even come close the the real location of the cities. I wonder how they would perform with a map of the world. Anyway, we had to learn maps in school and I think it is good to know at least the basics in geography.

- Informative lens, as usual. Maps have always fascinated me. Especially the ones that were created centuries ago. Most are works of art, and amazingly accurate considering the tools they had for creating them. I bought a globe a few years ago, and it's already out of date!

- Hi, Evelyn. Thank you so much for including my map and compass lens here. I think those skills and knowing geography and navigation in general are really important. This is another great educational lens of yours, and I think there are plenty of adults who could use some of the exercises and projects you describe here. Heck, I could stand to do a puzzle of the world, myself! I once knew all the countries and their capitals too (had to for school), but I've forgotten too many over the years.

- Nice lens - I am lensrolling you on my lens 'So - you want to teach your Kids Geography'. I learned my geography largely by traveling. And expanded on it when I started homeschooling and had to teach my kids. When we fly we always pour over the maps in the airline magazines and see where we are flying over and what interesting places the airline flies to.
When we are in the US doing road trips, each child has their own atlas and I will quiz them to see who can find the road you need to take between 2 cities, or which river runs through a certain town. They love to see who is best.
