All About Marbles
A marble is a small spherical toy usually made from glass, clay, or agate. These balls vary in size. Most commonly, they are about ½ inch (1.25 cm) across, but they may range from less than ¼ inch (0.635 cm) to over 3 inches (7.75 cm), while some art glass marbles for display purposes are over 12 inches (30 cm) wide. Marbles can be used for a variety of children's games, and are often collected, both for nostalgia and for their aesthetic colors.

When I was young my siblings and I used to collect and play with marbles. We had a lot of fun back then, despite the simplicity of the game. Wish we had saved our collection. I'm sure some of the marbles, especially the wooden ones, are valuable today.

I love looking at the vintage ones on ebay and seeing how much they go for. I wonder what toys kids will have to save these days in order to make money like that?

I love marbles. I always have. I have a small collection. I don't think any of them are worth anything though. Thanks for sharing. Bear hugs, Frankie

I have found marbles metal detecting. Obviously, marble aren't metal, but they were once "toys that every kid owned and they ended up all over the house and yard. When digging metal around old homesites, they turn up often.
