Marc Bolan: The Groover

The saga of Marc Bolan (born 30 September, 1947 - died 16 September, 1977), leader of glam rock group T.Rex, is one of a spunky little dreamer who looked and played the part of an elvish minstrel; whose bizarre voice and songs were dismissed by critics as a fleeting novelty or, worse, a bad joke; and whose most laughable trait of all was a near-mystical belief in his own importance and destiny - in short, a surefire loser who played by rules all his own and went on to become the biggest pop star in Britain.

From "The British Invasion - From The First Wave To The New Wave" by Nicholas Schaffner.

T.Rex History

T.Rex was an English rock band fronted by guitarist, singer and songwriter Marc Bolan. Formed as Tyrannosaurus Rex in 1960s London, the folk rock group's debut album My People Were Fair and Had Sky in Their Hair... But Now Theyre Content to Wear Stars on Their Brows'' (1968) reached number 15 in the UK. In the 1970s, they achieved mainstream success as a glam rock band with hits such as "Hot Love," "Get It On," "Telegram Sam" and "Metal Guru." After waning commercial success in the mid-70s, T.Rex ended in 1977 after Bolan was killed in a car accident.

Jeepster: a charming average guy, who is willing to go anywhere for the object of his affection---namely, a "jaguar" (a "jaguar" is a super hot girl).

I am right now writing a literacy autobiography and how I came into wanting to learn more about literacy and I am doing mine on Marc. I am only 32 but when my father heard that I was listening to a lot of classic rock he suggested T. Rex so when I found a tape called Electric Warrior I bought it and the rest is pretty much history I simple fell in love with his music and especilly his lyrics. I have very heard words that he used in my life it was just so intreging that I had to know what he was saying so that is what I did started looking up words and expanded my vocabulary. He was great and it would have been wonderful to have him still around today with all that has gone on with music he I beleve would have made some very creative work (as if he already not :-D). And by chance if anyone knows FOR SURE the defination to jeepster please type it in. I am quit positive the meaning is: planly or simply. I'm just a jeepster for your love. I'm just simply for your love?

I love Marc Bolan! My friend was once on a day out in London and saw him as he was sat in a limo at a set of lights. She ran screaming 'I love you Marc' up to the windows and he gave her the middle finger LOL!! She was devasted for months, poor thing. Your lenses are always so thorough, well done, great job!

Great lens. T. Rex were just a little bit before my time, but I have of course grown to love the music.
