My twins were born 6 weeks early due to my Pre-eclampsia.  They were born healthy, thank the Lord, but baby A was 3.5lbs and baby B was 4lbs.  Also, being born this early caused them severe Jaundice.  They needed to gain weight and maintain the body temperatures before they could go home.  We were only in the NICU for 2 weeks with very mild challenges to overcome, but I am thankful for what the NICU did for our little girls to get them ready to come home.  They are/were perfectly healthy with mild "Premmie" issues like Gerd, and irritability due to weight and being born too soon.  It was nice to turn to the March of Dimes and see that what my girls were experiencing was perfectly normal and how I could help them through their issues.

At 5 months of age, durning the RSV season, my girls recieved their Synagis shots and I am thankful for that because we would have been taking a chance not getting them those shots.  My girls are 3.5 years old and so healthy.  Although, my girls never dealt with what a very premature child went through, they did have to overcome some issues and without the March Of Dimes support, I would have been much more stressed out and overwhelmed.
