The Lone Survivor
Book Reviews From Amazon
This book, written by Patrick Robinson, reads like a fast-paced thriller, told in Marcus's understated voice. It is a rivetting, important, sad story of lost friends, valor, courage and the intricacies of modern war. It is an important book, destined to become an American classic. " -- Jengo
"I can say without a doubt you will be floored by what this guy and his team went through. I don't think Hollywood could make up a story this intense and horrific and not have us all say "Come on, one person could not have had all this happen to him". But it did happen and the fact that he survived this ordeal is absolutely amazing.
...the second half of the book is one of the most unbelievable stories of survival that I have ever read." -- Family First
"I have read a lot of war books, and I do not think I have ever read a more gripping account of prolonged close combat than "Lone Survivor." The way these four guys fought off a determined taliban force is just an amazing testament to the SEALs' fighting ability and their valor. Luttrell's survival of the battle and continued survival in the Pashtun mountain village are so unlikely that one can't help but think this is a work of fiction, except you know it actually happened." -- chessgeek

Definitely. He inspires us to do good things for others, get rid of our selfishness and look around at people who have made a difference in ALL of our lives yet they go quietly unnoticed among us, needing our love and appreciation.

I first saw a picture of 6 of them, in the glocktalk.com forum site(http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1120276&page=2). Someone asked a question about painting their firearm, which someone posted a picture of these soldiers with colored AR's which turned into someone commenting about "too cool for school" because these guys just looked like some badass dudes. Full gear on, sun glasses, rifles, beards(which you only see in SF's). And someone who knew them or their story posted about them defending these men and their honor for what the gave for our country. First thing tomorrow, im heading to the book store or library to find this book.
This story would make a great movie ;-^, guess that would be up to the family of these soldiers. Hurt locker hasnt done bad?? Can wait to read this story, and i barely cant stand the local paper.

MARCUS is my superhero too - as are all the men who died in that Redwing operation - ALL military personnel have my prayers. I'm reading "Lone Survivor" for the 3rd time. Amazing book! I have personally purchased 15 copies/hard back; and 6 in paperback, all for others. It's my opinion that if you only read one book in your lifetime - (other than the Bible) you should read this one. It gives you such a feeling of pride for our Navy Seals, and throws you into their world of training, missions, deaths and survival! You will appreciate your FREEDOM more, here in the U.S. - and be more respectful of those who provide you with that FREEDOM! I pray especially for Marcus every day, that GOD Heal his body and erase all his pain. He has given his all for his country. Recently, I offer the same prayers for MORGAN LUTTRELL, Marcus' twin brother who recently suffered a broken back in combat. I've searched the internet for more info on Morgan, but not much available? Anyone have any further info? ALL MY LOVE and PRAYERS TO Marcus and Morgan, especially at this Christmas-time! May God Bless you and your family......Love to you both......... Aunt Dee - Houston, TX

Absolutely. No one could ever possibly understand what these men and women do to protect their country unless someone has "walked in their shoes" (boots)

John says:
I guess if this man cannot be your hero, then you lack even the tiniest bit of humility needed to realize that heros need not fit your ideaology. He is not a hero because he is a soldier, he is a hero because he defines service above self.

- Hi There,
I am a Squidoo-ite myself, Marketer Dianne. I also have blogs, one of which is about politics. You can check it out here: politickedwatchdog.com. I stopped working on it for a while but picked it up again the other day when the government decided to put the Navy SEALS on trial. I am linking your page to Marcus' name in my blog. Hope that helps. This is an American tragedy.

P.S. I made this lens for the Squidoo Superheroes Project
I was invited to participate in the Squidoo Superhero Project, making 5 lenses in 2 weeks about the people who have inspired me, mentored me, changed the way I look at the world. The people I just want to say a big loud public THANKS to.If you buy anything from this page, you'll automatically (for free, of course) be sending a royalty straight to the Squidoo Charity Fund, which pays out to nonprofits like JDRF and Room to Read and Donors Choose every month.
