Mardi Gras Official Colors
For Mardi Gras coloring, be sure to use lots of gold, green and purple
Green, gold and purple are the colors of Mardi Gras. The official Mardi Gras colors were selected in 1872, and in 1892, the Rex Parade theme gave them their symbolic meaning.Purple represents Justice
Green represents Faith
Gold represents Power
When not in costume, Mardi Gras celebrants try to wear the official colors. Many party and parade-goers wear colorful beads, masks and hats adorned with sparkly glitter, sequins and feathers in the colors of Mardi Gras.
