Mardi Gras in New Orleans

Note: This lens was written by my fiancee. When most people think of Mardi Gras, they think of Bourbon Street, bare-chested women, and beads.  Well, this year I will be attending my eighth Mardi Gras, and although there is definitely that aspect of the holiday available to the public, there really is so much more to the carnival season. On the one hand, Mardi Gras is a superb example of the New Orleans spirit and a celebration of life.  On the other hand, it is used by many people as an excuse to do whatever they want can get away with.  Inhibitions are sometimes lost, yes, but there is more to the event than sex, drugs and booze.  Everyone who has ever been to a Mardi Gras will have a great experience they will never forget (or remember).

Thanks for saying something that needs to be said. Things can get wild in the French Quarter on Mardi Gras Day, but for the most part, it is a family event with lots of parades and enjoyment all over the city and the area--clean fun a family can enjoy. So, y'all come and pass a good time.
