The Blind Assassin
their lives and those of Iris' prominent father, husband, and sister-in-law.Within the novel is Laura's novella, which was published by Iris after Laura's apparent suicide. The novella is entitled The Blind Assassin and is about an upper-class woman's affair with a troublesome and troubled man. Within the novella is a science fiction story (the source of the book's title) told by the man during the nameless couple's trysts.
The Blind Assassin is a fictional memoir, a love story, a mystery, a tragedy, and a pulp science fiction tale all in one. It is my favorite Margaret Atwood book, and I have read it countless times. Each of the four stories within has a different style and voice and is fascinating on its own, and together they create a suspenseful and fantastic read.

The author and fan interact face-to-face via videoconferencing, as the author writes an inscription on a tablet that depicts the book, which has been placed under the pen at the fan's location. With the click of a button, the inscription is transmitted from the tablet to the pen, and the book is signed by the tool with real ink in front of the fan.The LongPen is a convenient marketing tool and time saver for the author, but it is also a testament to Margaret Atwood's environmentalism, as the official website shows in its tally of carbon emissions saved by eliminating air travel for book signings and events.

Sassy Magazine
Sassy magazine (RIP) doesn't really have anything to do with Margaret Atwood, except that it introduced me (and, judging by a Google search for "margaret atwood sassy magazine," lots of other women) to Margaret Atwood with book reviews for Wilderness Tips and The Handmaid's Tale, and I am eternally grateful.
Sassy Magazine is a defunct cult fave teen magazine. It was founded in March 1988 by an Australian feminist, Sandra Yates, CEO of Matilda Publications, who based it on the teen magazine Dolly, which is still in publication in Australia.
