Who is Marian Rivera

Rivera began her career as a ramp and commercial model, which landed her with an appearance on TV advertisements for Skin White Lotion and Sky Flakes crackers.[3] Production company TAPE Inc. then signed her to cast in a series of afternoon soap operas for GMA Network: Kung Mamahalin Mo Lang Ako, Agawin Mo Man Ang Lahat (where she was named as the Best New Female TV Personality at the 2006 PMPC Star Awards[4]) and Pinakamamahal. Oyo Boy Sotto was her leading man in these soaps.[1] GMA Network then cast her into mother roles for the afternoon Philippine-Malaysian drama Muli and the primetime telefantasya Super Twins.[5][6]

Rivera rose to fame when she won an audition for the title role of MariMar, the remake of the Mexican telenovela which starred Thalía.[6] MariMar premiered on August 13, 2007 with a 36.6% rating.[7]

She has been compared to Angel Locsin, who rose to fame in GMA Network's Darna and has since been working with rival network ABS-CBN, which the two are trying to avoid. Rivera was offered the role of Darna in a spin-off series Captain Barbell Meets Darna. She wanted to accept the role, but was concerned of the comparison with Locsin.[8]

GMA Network confirmed that Marian's next project after Marimar is Dyesebel.[9]Due to the success of Marimar, Dingdong Dantes will be her loveteam again in Dyesebel portraying as Fredo.[10]

Rivera recently made a blockbuster movie entitled My Bestfriend's Girlfriend which grossed P 140 Million Pesos on the box-office. She proved that She is the newest box-office princess of the Philippines. She will be doing again a movie under GMA Films with Dingdong and Iza Calazado entitled Amnesia.[11]
