Marietta Waters is an American vocalist, originally from the Philadelphia area. Marietta was born into a musically talented family. Her mother Mary Waters was a professional dancer, and her father Arthur J. Waters was a professional pianist. At an early age Marietta demonstrated talent as a singer and started to perform with her parents on stage. She has since evolved into a successful solo singer, songwriter, producer, and vocal coach.
Marietta's solo career flourished in the eighties—she released several singles and appeared on the Top Gun and Fire & Ice soundtracks under the name Marietta. In a career that has spanned several decades, Marietta has recorded and toured with many musical artists including Sergio Mendes, Harold Faltermeyer, Giorgio Moroder, Berlin, Animotion, Donna Summer, Elton John, Olivia Newton-John, Crystal Lewis, Dave Grusin, Cyndi Lauper, The Cars, Huey Lewis, Jeffrey Osborne, Maurice White and Verdine White of Earth, Wind & Fire, Lee Ritenour, Ringo Starr, Tony Bennett, and Stevie Wonder.
Marietta's latest release, A Call From The Heart, was inspired by her pop, soul, Latin, jazz, R&B, and gospel influences. Now living in southern California, Marietta continues to songwrite, perform, and record. She has also expanded her talents as a singing coach.
