Marijuana Addiction Hypnosis

Marijuana is popularly called cannabis, pot, weed, dope, hash, grass, draw etc, it has many different names. After continued use over a long period of time marijuana can lead to addiction. Marijuana addiction often creeps up on people, it's something that people often fall into and don't even realise that they are addicted, because they don't realise it's possible to be addicted to cannabis.

Some people who are addicted to marijuana even need professional rehabilitation, in fact over 500,000 Americans go to rehab for marijuana addiction every year. Going to a rehab centre helps with round-the-clock monitoring and a professional understanding of your condition.

Hypnosis has become extremely popular lately as a complimentary option for those undergoing treatment for marijuana addiction. Hypnosis can be tried in two ways. You can go to a hypnotherapist practitioner, or you can buy a CD or mp3 that help you with self-hypnosis in your own home. They both work in the same way but seeing a therapist will cost you a lot more money.

Hypnosis works by sending direct messages for lifestyle changes to the subconscious. The subconscious is more malleable than the analytical mind and yet, is more potent when it comes to changing a person's habits. It does not interfere with your basic moral fibre though.

Whether you use self-hypnosis with a CD or visit a therapist, it works by putting you in a trance, this is just a state of deep relaxation. Messages are sent to your subconscious only after you are completely relaxed, with your subconscious alert to any suggestions. Music with certain frequencies to heighten and sustain your trance is also used. Sometimes you may fall asleep during a hypnosis session. After putting you through the trance and giving your subliminal messages, the therapist or CD will wake you up.

If you visit a hypnotherapist your sessions may be scheduled thrice a week. A CD for self-hypnosis can be used thrice in a day if you wish. Either way, to actually benefit from hypnosis to treat marijuana addiction you must remain regular with your sessions. Most hypnosis treatments last for a couple of months. A minimum of 60-day usage is recommended with CDs for self-hypnosis.

Hypnosis helps with treating and controlling all of marijuana addictions withdrawal symptoms like irritability, mood swings, loss of appetite etc. But hypnosis should not be your only strategy for quitting, a strong support network will also be necessary.

You may need tremendous will power and effort to get rid of marijuana addiction, but hypnosis can make the challenge easier to handle. It will compliment family support, exercise, support groups and every other effort you make to get over your addiction.

Different people will experience differing degrees of success using hypnosis depending on your susceptibility, some people are more susceptible than others, but many experience a significant degree of success, but it's not a magic spell and will power is still required.

Marijuana Addiction

I was just thinking really it's sometimes the things we suspect the least that we are the most vulnerable to falling victim of. So much of the focus of the dangers of drugs is directed on the harder ones and to a certain extent that's fair enough, perhaps people should be more weary of those kind of drugs, but the danger is when you are only focusing on the ones that you think are the threat you sometimes over look the others which may be less dramatic but also harmful even if it is to a lesser extent. Obviously it's worse to get hit by a truck than a motorcycle, but the truth be known you don't really want to get hit by either, it's probably best to steer clear of both if you can, just because there is something worse it still doesn't make the less harmful option a good thing. I often refer to it as the such and such is worse argument although I am not really sure what it proves, it still doesn't turn a bad thing into a good thing. And when you consider the fact that a lot more people may be using the one drug than the other even if it is a less harmful and less addictive drug, you can end up with the kind of situation that we have now where in some parts of the world cannabis is in the top couple of places for drug rehab admissions, when you look at some of these rehab figures it kind of makes you re-examine whether it is as harmless as you first thought. It's a bit like we are so focussed on watching out for the tiger that we are failing to watch out for the wolves who are actually far greater in number and the fact that they may be in sheep's clothing can often make it all the harder to see the danger coming. Anyway I just thought it's worth thinking about.

If you are having problems with cannabis addiction you may want to visit the cannabis addiction forum and learn more about the effects of weed.

We have just added a new message board, the social anxiety forum, this is an issue that many people who smoke weed suffer from so hopefully the two forums should complement each other.
