From One Parent in 2003 to Thousands of Parents, Friends and Supporters of United States Marines
This lens was created to raise awareness about, and highlight, the Volunteer organization that offers "A Place to Connect & Share" for Marine Corps Families & Supporters.
It all started when one woman was searching for information about what was going on in Iraq when her Marine son was deployed.
Over the years, MarineParents.com has grown into a vibrant, living community managed by this amazing woman and her team of dedicated parents who have nurtured and raised it. It is THE go to place for parents seeking answers when their children enlist and go to boot camp.
During the boot camp experience, as parents frequent the MarineParents website, and they become engaged and participate in the conversations, the realization slowly dawns on them that they have been "involuntarily drafted" into the Marine Corps! And it happens ever so subtly because of the courageous decision of their sons and daughters to earn the title of "United States Marine".
MarineParents sponsor several outreach programs, most notably:

Operation PAL (Prayers and Letters)

The good works of this organization are funded and powered by the proceeds generated, and donations made, by supporters of Marines and their families.
We trust that you will want to help us . . .

Reasons to Support MarineParents.com
So Much More Than The Message Boards
You have to read the story of why Tracy Della Vecchia founded this unique organization six years ago. Today, she and her team of dedicated Volunteers offer their time by providing information, encouragement and support to those who post on the message boards. They also share their own experiences while managing the numerous projects of MarineParents.com, Inc.
This Nonprofit Corporation is governed by a nine-member Board of Directors, and four Advisory Board Members and is an IRS approved 501(c)(3) public charity.
When I stumbled upon their website at the end of July, 2007, I had NO idea the effect it would have on me. The Recruit Parents side of the house became my lifeline while my son was going through boot camp on Parris Island, as I know it has, and continues to be for countless others. (You can read my story HERE.)
Because of the information, support, resources and friendships I found, I cannot imagine others NOT knowing about this website. So I created this Lens to allow more people the opportunity to discover this caring group of people who touch the lives of so many with all that they do for our Marines and their families.

The Office Has Moved!
Former Location Was Sold; New Location Renovation Is 99% Done
The Story Behind the Move provides a snapshot of this organization's humble beginnings, its tremendous growth, and groundwork for the future.
Since I live miles away from the corporate office in another state, I decided that one way I could help was to update this Lens to get the word out about this HUGE undertaking.
"It took 8 months, thousands of hours of donated labor, thousands of dollars in donated funding, and thousands of dollars in donated materials."
Here are Photos of the Renovation.
The new office is located at:
2810 LeMone Industrial Boulevard
Columbia, MO 65201
573-449-2003
and the mailing address is:
MarineParents.com
PO Box 1115
Columbia, MO 65205
The Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony will be October 31, 2009.
We appreciate each and every person who made the move and renovation possible so that this fine organization can continue to support Former, Present and Future Marines who . . .
Defend OUR Country;
Honor THEIR Families; and
Sacrifice for YOUR Freedoms!

- Thanks to MarineParents.com we were able to feed approximately 150 Wounded Warriors last night at Balboa Hospital! 300 huge ribs, three steam pans of au gratin potaoes, two huge roasters of green beans, two large salads, three bags of Costco Rolls, and about 35 different homemade deserts brought in by volunteers! They really appreciate the food and a chance to get out of their rooms and socialize, they know they are so loved and supported when they leave the Liberty Center. Thank you Marine Parents for supporting this great evening every month!
Hugs
Joyce

United States Marine Corps at a Glance
The United States Marine Corps (USMC) is a branch of the United States armed forces responsible for providing force projection from the sea, using the mobility of the United States Navy to rapidly deliver combined-arms task forces. It is one of seven uniformed services of the United States.
