Sailors Niche Community
Most of us already know by now about the Social Networking concept. Then, what is Maritime Social Networking?
Well, for ages, Mariners were considered kind of outcast from the Society. They used to stay miles away from the computers. Not any more. Present age needs brought them quite close to computers. So close, that there are already quite a few Community Portals for Sailors.
Here, I would like to mention about a few other Indian Social networking sites for mariners.
01) http://22knots.com - Only for DMET/MERI guys. But very active. Their main asset is e-mail discussions.People take active part in recent happenings, raise their voice & also, help out the needy ones.
02) http://sailorbits.com - A very modern & feature-rich marine social networking site with personal touch. They are compartively new but has a very good collection of articles. Recently, they started a forum (Guess its built on phpbb) ..... but this site is amazing, and looks promising.
03) http://hydro-nautics.com - A good looking site, mainly a virtual shipping company. But this site navigation is a bit poor and not much activity. Well, with time, this site might come out promising.
04) http://www.marinersnetwork.com - Another one bites the dust !! More or less same concept, but site navigation is a bit slow. Seems like members signs up but hardly visit as not much activity.
05) http://superseagroup.in - Not exactly a social networking site......but with good links & infos.
So??? Check them out folks & decide yourself which one is gonna lead tomorrow's Indian Mariners Social Networking site.
More & more we can keep talking about sailors, sea-life, ships & shipping........there is no end. Better, just experience it at a glance at one of them, say http://sailorbits.com
With Blogs, Forums, Games, Q&A, Slide Show, Polls, Groups, Jokes, Recipes & many many morefeatures, its steps ahead of other existing Maritime Social Networking sites.
