Email Marketing Services

Market Your Organization, Manage Contacts
All nonprofits in this day and age should be using email marketing as a method of communicating with patrons, members, clients and stakeholders. Templates will make your emails stand out and give your organization a professional image. Personalized templates can make updating information and inserting new text into pre-set modules can make it quick and easy to create newsletters, and saving you staff time. Detailed, comprehensive reports give you the ability to see who gets your emails, who opens them, who clicks on your links and what links they're clicking. You will gain valuable insight into your patron base.
Mail Chimp
![]()
Very user friendly, even for those with limited web experience. They do offer a 15% discount to nonprofits and charities if you write to them and request it. Their FREE plan includes up to 2,000 subscribers and 12,000 emails per month. No expiring trials. No contracts. No credit card required. Free, monthly, pay-as-you-go and high volume pricing plans available. My personal business (Dramatically Correct) is not a charity, and I prefer mail chimp for my basic needs--the simplicity is fantastic.....0 points
Constant Contact
![]()
Email marketing, event marketing, surveys and social media services. The youth organization that I work with currently uses this program to manage all of their email marketing. It was simple enough that all of our staff were able to figure out the list making tools and the templates. Non profit (or educational) 12 month pre-pay accounts start at $10.50 per month, and the reporting features are out of this world. If you don't have 501-c-3 status and/or need advanced reports on delivery and cli......0 points
Vertical Response
![]()
If you do have a 501-c-3, I personally prefer Vertical Response. Your first 10,000 emails per month are FREE. There are a lot of organizations that could benefit from that. The form creation and reporting features are in the same par as Constant Contact, and additional emails past 10,000 are offered at an affordable per-email rate (12.75 per 1,000). Do the math, but I think you'll find this is a great deal!0 points

Event Management
If your organization hosts classes, events or fundraisers, you need some tools for event management. This is another area that you can save yourself time and collaborate easily with your staff and your patrons.

Track All Aspects of Fundraising Campaigns
Tracking and thanking your donors is of the utmost importance. Using a database can help you stay on top of your thank you letters, when to contact previous supporters, and the reporting features can give you insight into any aspect of your fund drives.
DonorPerfect

Nonprofits use DonorPerfect Fundraising Software for their Donor Management, Grant & Gift Tracking, Moves Management, Mass Mailing needs and more. Starts at around $30 a month, contact them for a quote.0 points
http://www.etapestry.com
![]()
I just began working with etapestry a few months ago to see how it would work for us. If you have fewer than 500 donors, it's free to use. It is incredibly comprehensive. I personally feel if you have fewer than 500 donors, it may be more powerful than you need, but it is accurate, complex and free. Too much of a good thing can't be bad.0 points
Sage Fundraising 50

Sage Fundraising 50 offers comprehensive fundraising and development tools to help you reach new ground in donor acquisition, fundraising results, and operational efficiency. This inclusive fundraising software helps keep the total cost of ownership in check for all nonprofit organizations.0 points
GoodSearch - Web search, coupons, discounts & deals for charity!
![]()
Sign your charity or nonprofit up, and then use their handy tools to spread the word to your supporters. They can use the goodsearch toolbar to search (powered by yahoo) and 50% of any revenue from those search ads goes to your organization. They estimate 100 supporters making two searches per day could earn you around $750 a year. Your patrons simply search as usual, so there's no cost to them, the money all comes from ad revenue.0 points

Great Printed Materials and Tools to Build Your Brand
Marketing is so important in today's nonprofit organizations. You can use marketing pieces to thank your volunteers, promote your fundraising efforts, and advertise your product or service. Be creative! I've made Christmas Ornaments to sell during a Christmas time event, created custom photo-collage postcards as thank you notes, even create custom postage to make an impact on donation request letters!
VistaPrint.com

Awesome printing services. Promotional items, business cards, rack cards, postcards, banners (banners for under $20-$50? Crazy!). I use Vista Print all the time. You can almost always find discounts available and the quality is outstanding. The deals are so great I purchase a lot of personalized Christmas gifts on this site.0 points
Zazzle.com
![]()
Zazzle is a fantastic print-on-demand company with high quality products and a great system for bulk pricing. They offer custom postage (put your logo on postage stamps), shirts, mugs, and lots of other items that work for marketing or thank you items. You could also create products to sell to raise money for your organization. (I describe this idea further in my fundraising ideas lens) Thousands of pre-designed items you can choose from as well.0 points
Google Grants
![]()
Organizations with 501-c-3 status can apply for a Google grant to receive $10,000 per month in free advertising on Google Search. Get top placement for keywords relating to your cause. There is a lot of paperwork and homework to do (adwords is a confusing marketing medium but WELL worth the time), but $120,000 in free advertising a year is nothing to shake a stick at.0 points
Animoto - For a Cause - Non-Profit Videos
![]()
Amazing video production website. No more boring slideshows, set your photos and text to music with up-to-date transitions. There are some pretty big-name organizations that use this service, and it's excellent. Perfect for use on social media and your website. Apply through their cause page to be approved.0 points

Collaborate with Your Team
I have fallen in love with team management programs. If you have a team of 2 or more people, this could be a fantastic tool for you to save time and even cut down on the number of meetings you have (yea!). The best thing about team collaboration tools is that it can work across organizations. So if you work with partners on a regular basis, you can be really clear about who is to do what and by when.
Teamwork Project Manager
![]()
Teamwork Project Manager is an easy-to-use online teamwork & project management software application that helps managers, staff and clients work together more productively online. I LOVE this program. I've used it for a couple of years with the biggest project we work on annually. We have dozens of task lists with hundreds of tasks and we can communicate and stay on schedule like a dream. FREE option for up to two projects with unlimited tasks.0 points

I LOVE Wufoo forms. You can have up to three forms per account, and one account per email address. It's worth getting a paid account, they start under $10 and it saves you from having to enter and reenter email addresses to find your forms. The form builder is SO easy, and I love a web app that doesn't take itself too seriously. Fun to use, great service.0 points
Meetifyr | Get Your Friends Together

I really am into this site for planning meetings between groups of people. This saves you time by letting people choose the best day and time for them for a meeting. No more calling and re-calling people to see what works. The best thing is, unlike doodlepoll, you can write notes that show up on the screen that everyone can see. Did I mention it's FREE?0 points

Set Up Your Own Website to Promote Your Organization
I worked at a nonprofit and ran a year-round fundraiser that relied on customers to provide a service to. We were expected to bring in 50% of the organization's revenue and our marketing budget was $400 a year. Sound familiar? How did we do it? Website development. Learn what you can about developing a website and invest a little time in building and updating it. You'll soon realize you can use your web stats to encourage sponsors and donors by giving factual evidence of traffic to your site in addition to your events and activities.

About the Author
I've worked in non-profit management for over ten years, in organizations with a small staff and an even smaller budget. I love web applications and software and using systems to save time and money. This lens is really just an expansion of my personal list of web apps and software and books that I used to keep on my computer in case people asked me for recommendations. Almost every item in this lens I've used myself, and the few I haven't I've researched enough to feel comfortable recommending them. They maybe were too big or too complex for what I needed at the time. Please feel free to leave comments and questions, I check back often.
