Hiring A Marketing Consultant
What You Should Know
WHAT QUALITIES SHOULD YOU LOOK FOR IN A MARKETING CONSULTANT?Ahem.
A good marketing consultant should be able to listen. Very, very well.
He is not in love with himself. When a marketing consultant peppers his sentences with "I" and "my" - RUN! He has no intention of listening to you. Ever.
Go for one with a solid marketing background and extensive marketing experience. Do not let an MBA fool you. An MBA does not automatically mean marketing expertise. It just means he's diligent.
Fear the marketing consultant who is barely computer literate and does not possess internet savvy. He is obsolete.
Being able to save a document on Microsoft Word or open a Friendster profile does not count. An 8-year-old can do that for free.
While this is not required, a marketing consultant with a creative flair would be nice. . After all, how can one evaluate marketing and advertising tools if he has the creativity of a gnat?

- A Parody Of 15 Corporate Logos
- From the Business Pundit: The 2008 crash is probably the most serious economic crisis we have faced after the Great Depression. Stock markets from around the world fell as much as 20% in a single week, dozens of banks either failed or were rescued by government and private instutitions, and companies started laying off employees as a consequence of the reduced demand.
We know how we entered into the crisis, but we don't how, when, or how we will be getting out of it. Considering that issue, we decided to our little bit to help cheer everyone up by redoing the logos of some renowned companies %u2026. after the crisis. - How Better Marketing Elected Obama
- John Quelch's article for the Harvard Business Publishing.
When the book is written on this election, it should not be titled "The Making of a President," but "The Marketing of a President." Barack Obama's campaign is a case study in marketing excellence.
True, it was always going to be a Democratic year. An unpopular war, an incumbent Republican president with rock bottom approval ratings, and many Republican incumbents retiring from Congress as a result all meant that change was in the air. Add to that the economic meltdown that decimated millions of 401K retirement plans and undercut any Republican claim to be the better steward of the economy.
But, even so, for an inexperienced single term African-American senator tagged with the most liberal voting record to defeat the heir apparent in his own party and then go on to hold off the much-vaunted Republican machine is a truly remarkable achievement. Much of it has to do with Obama's instinct for marketing. - MediaMetrics: Hate To Burst Your Bubble
- Written by John Gerzema.
As if sub-prime mortgages, failing hedge funds and institutional bailouts were not enough for 2008, there is yet another crisis brewing on Wall Street. Only in this case the assets cannot be traded away or hedged against inflation. The financial markets think brands are worth more than the consumers who buy them think they are worth. - Where To Find The Bright Spots In 2009

But this life of uncertainty isn't for everyone; we're not all equipped with the extreme self-discipline, tenacity and passion required for a solo career.
Do you have what it takes to fly solo? You'll need the following essentials should you make the choice to go it alone. - Global Workforce of Freelancers
- A new generation of online service marketplaces is giving small companies more opportunities than ever to find specialized expertise and affordable labor. Main Street businesses can shop a virtual international bazaar of freelancers to recruit computer programmers in Russia, graphic designers in San Francisco or data analysts in India.

- Wow Philippines
- See how beautiful the Philippines is. Mabuhay!
- Department Of Trade & Industry
- Well, of course, you can't have a business without registering at the DTI. It all begins there.
You can check the availability of your business name online. That will spare you the hassle of going back and forth the DTI until you get a business name that you and the DTI can live with.
My favorite section of the DTI site is the SME Agenda. I love entrepreneurs. I think there's something about opening your own business that gives your character an ooomph above everyone else.
If you intend to list your business under sole proprietorship, the fee to be paid is P300.00. This is where you go to for business requirements at the DTI. - Securities & Exchange Commission
- If you intend to list your business as a corporation or partnership, you have to go to the Securities & Exchange Commission. That's where corporations register.
The registration fee is P1,500 but I think it's best you check with the SEC to make sure. Your company also needs at least 5 people to be registered at the SEC.
Go here to check the requirements you will need to register your corporation or partnership. - Digital Filipino
