Take This Quiz To See If you Logo Works Effectively

This simple test is perfect for any business to test whether or not their logo maximizes its effectiveness.

Starter businesses can also use this test as a gauge when having their new logo designed.

The Logo Effectiveness Quiz

Take the quiz to see if you logo maximizes its effectiveness

Welcome to the logo quiz. Get a pencil and be ready to jot down points for each question.

1) Write down the single most important aspect that needs to be conveyed with your logo (this is usually the service or product your offering). Take a printout of your logo to 5 people who don't know anything about your business. Show each of them your logo for about three seconds and then cover it up. Ask each person to describe what kind of business the logo represents.

Give your logo a point for every person who knew the most important aspect of your business just from looking at your logo. Take a point away for everyone who didn't know.

2) Shrink your logo to about 1 inch. Is your logo still legible and easily recognizable?(NOTE: Some businesses have an alternate version of their logo to use for small advertisements. If you have a small variation of your logo, use it for this part of the test.) Give your logo 1 point for "yes" or 0 points for "no"

3) Do you have a full color version of your logo? 1 point for "yes" or 0 points for "no".

4) Do you have a two color version of your logo? 1 point for "yes" or 0 points for "no".

5) Does your logo translate well to black and white (no grays) or do you have an alternate version for black and white prints? 1 point for yes or 0 points for "no".

6) Does your logo appeal to your target demographic? Your demographic is the primary type of customer your business services. Factors could include age, sex, location, race, hobbies, belief systems, financial status, etc. To test, you will first have to assess the most common factors with your current client base and then show the logo to 2 people who fit your business profile (let them look it over). Add 1 point for each person who finds the logo appealing and subtract 1 point for each person who did not or offered suggestions.

NOTE:
It really doesn't matter how attractive your logo is if it doesn't appeal to the kind of customer who falls in your target demographic.

7) Is your logo unique? Search the yellow pages and online to see what your competitors logos look like. Does your stand out or does it look pretty much like everyone else's? Add 1 point if your logo stands out, subtract one point from total if it blends.

Now add up your points and compare below:

Negative 7 to Positive 2: Your logo is ineffective. Rethinking your logo is not a bad idea. If you business has been around for 2 or more years, strategic, gradual changes would be strongly recommended to eliminate confusion with your current customer base.

Positive 3-6: Your logo is doing an average job, but your missing some business prospects. A consultation is recommended to see if your logo can be optimized or improved to capture more of the market.

7+: Your logo is above average and it's doing a good job. Any of the missing factors can usually be repaired fairly easy.
