First of all, I have to say that Lasse Rouhiainen is a genius.  Here is a guy who knows more than anyone I have ever met about online marketing.  And he is constantly learning more all of the time.  The other day I came accross an interview in which he describes how and why to make a video to promote any business on the internet.  This article is based on that interview.

The main  thing to keep in mind when making a video is to have fun and use your sense of humor.  When people see you having fun, they want what you have.  On the flip side of that, if you are not having fun, why would anyone want to become involved in what you are doing?

The first step of making a video is to determine your target market.  You will have a much easier time saying what you mean to say if you know who you are talking to from the very beginning.  What language do they speak?  How old are they?  These are very important questions that need to be addressed.

Number two is to define what the purpose of your video is.  Write all of this down in the form of talking points.  This will keep you on track during your video and give you a springboard for other video ideas.

The third step is to use every resource you can to get your video out there.  YouTube is a great starting point and is effective for reaching your target market about 80% of the time.  But there are many other Web 2.0 sites out there that are free and may work even better for what you are trying to accomplish.

Fourth, remember to think of each video as your asset.  The more you have out there, the higher your worth.  Each video you make is like a deposit into your "perceived value account".

Above all, be sure to talk to one person at a time in your video to make it more personal.  That way, each person will feel a special connection with you.  Incorporate My Story Marketing early on in your campaign.  Telling about who you are, what you are doing, what you have to offer, what your values are, and how you are helping people, go a long way toward building your own credibility in the online community.

Video Marketing: The Rise of Social Media  

There is no doubt about it. Social media is here to stay. And video is on the forefront. But in order to understand its significance, you need to have a better understanding of how social media marketing impacts search engine optimization.

Without getting too technical, let's just say that the videos that you produce are more likely to find their way to the top of Google's search results than most other forms of content.

But why? Because it is popular, that's why.

Google ranks all of the pages on the internet according to its relative importance. The higher the Page Rank, the better. A score of 10 is perfect, and it is reserved for Google itself.
