Detroit News Endorses Tim Walberg over Mark Schauer
West Michigan's 7th District , home of first-term incumbent Rep. Tim Walberg, is attracting the attention of both Democratic and Republican-leaning national interest groups who are vying in spending in a hard-fought battle for this congressional seat.

The anti-tax Club for Growth, which helped Walberg win the seat two years ago, is purchasing an ad attacking Walberg's opponent, Democratic state Sen. Mark Schauer.

Meanwhile, a large amount of money is being spent by interest groups on behalf of Schauer, who was part of the dysfunctional legislative leadership in Lansing that battled to the brink of disaster last fall before producing a dysfunctional budget. It hardly inspires confidence. We had reservations about Walberg during his first run in 2006. But he has proven to be a reasonable congressman, driven by common sense and sharply attuned to the interests of his district.

He stands consistently against tax hikes and an expansion of government, principles that will be severely tested in Congress next term. Voters in the 7th District should re-elect Tim Walberg .

1) Mark Schauer does not support Michigan House Joint Resolution NN (2008) which places parental rights above government rights!  Mark Schauer is for BIG government and not parents. 

2) Mark Schauer does not support Michigan House Bill 4564 which would provide a child roughly equal time with both fit and willing parents after divorce.  Research has proven this is best for children, however Mark Schauer simply does not care.  Remove parents and make BIG government the parent.

3) Mark Schauer has taxed Michigan residents to the point of bankruptcy.  Mark Schauer supports an increase in the gas tax!  Isn't gas high enough Mark Schauer?  Mark Schauer has taxed small businesses OUT OF BUSINESS.  Mark Schauer wants the government in business and nothing more.

4) Mark Schauer voted against strengthening restrictions on the distribution  of sexually explicit materials to minors!  Mark Schauer once again shows his anti-parents and anti-children policies.

Mark Schauer was the deciding vote in favor of the largest tax increase in Michigan history and he tried to raise taxes even higher. Michigan 's unemployment is at 8.5 percent, and Jackson County 's unemployment rate hit a 15 year high.

"Mark Schauer enacted massive job killing tax increases, even trying to raise taxes higher than Governor Granholm wanted, yet he has the audacity to run an ad bragging about his economic record. Time for Mark Schauer to Put His Money Where His Mouth Is
Schauer Stashes Cash from Washington's Most Notorious Tax Hiker After Voting to Raise Taxes on Michigan Families

Washington- Mark Schauer has conceded all ground on his baseless claims that he wouldn't support tax increases if he was sent to Washington by filling his campaign coffers with cash from the father of the Mother of All Tax Hikes, Rep Charlie Rangel. And in a new twist of irony, Schauer is now falsely accusing Rep. Tim Walberg of supporting the "largest tax increase in American History," but unfortunately for Schauer, he doesn't have all his facts straight.

In reality, it was the Democrat-led Congress, at the direction of NY Rep. Charlie Rangel, who passed the largest tax increase in American History. And now Mark Schauer is cozying up to Washington's most notorious tax-hiker and has so far taken more than $14,000 from him in campaign cash.

Rangel's down payment on Schauer's vote for his tax-hiking agenda in Washington has exposed Schauer to the voters in Michigan as yet another politician who is working to master the art of double-speak, instead of being straight forward about his commitment to raising taxes on hard-working Michigan families.

As a Michigan legislator, Schauer has thrown his support behind a budget to raise taxes by $1.5 billion - the largest tax increase in Michigan's history. And Schauer didn't stop there. He even introduced a bill to hike income taxes by as much as 18 percent, and has voted time and again against easing tax burdens on small businesses, which are the backbone of the economy.

"In Michigan, Mark Schauer has fought tooth and nail to raise taxes on everything from gasoline to dry cleaning to haircuts and even bottled water," said NRCC spokesman Ken Spain. "And now, after cozying up to scandal-scarred tax-hiker Charlie Rangel, Schauer has the audacity to ask Michigan voters to send him to Washington so he can vote for an even greater tax burden on middle-class families."

Schauer has forfeited his hollow claim that he "is committed to changing Washington," by befriending one of Washinton's most powerful insiders, Rep. Charlie Rangel, who has a growing laundry list of questionable activities and dealings that have allegedly violated House ethics rules. Schauer's latest political ploy to hide his commitment helping an ethically-tainted Washington insider raise taxes on middle-class families in Michigan is an insult to the hard-working people who want an honest representative to stand up for their interests in Congress.

Mark Schauer's Failing Grades on Job Creation
Poor Scores from Chamber of Commerce Unravel Pro-Growth Farce

Washington- Mark Schauer is on the airwaves with a misleading ad claiming that he has spent his time in the Michigan State Legislature promoting job growth despite some very compelling evidence to the contrary. Mark Schauer claims that "he is fighting to turn Michigan around," but according to the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, Schauer's performance in creating jobs and encouraging economic growth leaves a lot to be desired.

According to the Chamber of Commerce's Job Providers Index, Schauer's job growth scores are entirely underwhelming. Schauer has only reached the paltry 50% mark once, in his first year in the Michigan House of Representatives. In the years following, Schauer's performance on economic growth issues has been even worse:
