From the lens Marlow, N.H., Third Person Rural .

Please share your comments and insights. We realize that little Marlow is part of a much larger picture. We are interested in conservation of natural resources in the larger scale too, but we are starting in our own back yard. We hope this lens will encourage others to do likewise.

I wish more towns could be like Marlowe. I too am interested in social issues, environmental change and preserving eco-systems. I have 4 lenses on the subject. 3 from a postive aspect, and one from a NOT-green standpoint. It's is: http://www.squidoo.com/hydrofracking-and-updates

Again, a very thoroughly researched lens (like your lens on the Lyme, CT connection). Well done.

To Bob, who visited his daughter and heard naught but motorcycles. Welcome to New Hampshire, where, in the words of the Honorable Gen'l John Stark, we "Live free or die..." We live free or die, and those of us native to this great state, and to Marlow (my folks have been here for 13 generations) we choose to live free. If you don't like the noise of motorcycles, which do oddly enough frequent the two state highways which run through town, I would suggest you telephone your daughter instead of visiting so you aren't so terribly bothered by people whose choice of how to spend a nice afternoon differs from your own. I can tell from your writing that you are not only a city raised man, but also one who does not frequent the country much. I suggest you stir up gumption enough to walk in the woods next time, and I can almost promise you won't hear any of those rude people's engines in commute. In the meantime, go back to where ever it is you're from and make yourself content there so we don't have to deal with your pointless and rather ill concieved complaints which register you as a certifiable flatlander. And by the way, you can identify yourself better than Bob, which would seem like a bad alias. In New England, when a man has somthing to say, he says it to the point and without beating around the bush or hiding his intentions. Welcome to Marlow! Vote for me in a few years when I run for selectmen, as soon as I retire from the Navy, protecting my friends and neighbors back home. Think of that the next time you say no one in our town cares about others.

I wish I could add a good comment, but I cannot. I visited my daughter on a sunday and all I heard was motorcycles on the pond. Apparently others do not care about others in your town. If i was to stand in front of any of their house and rev my car, the police would be there Ithink of that as selfness.
