Maroon 5 in Concert

On Valentine's Day in 2004, I attended a John Mayer Concert and opening for John Meyer was an unknown group called "Maroon 5." John Mayer initially invited Maroon 5 to tour with them in 2003 after he had heard their first album. John knew Maroon 5 guitarist, James Valentine when they attended college together in 1996. Valentine's Day happened to be the first date they began their North American Tour for 2004.

The John Meyer Concert was held at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver, BC. The Pacific Coliseum is an older arena that holds smaller venues with 16,000 people. I was able to combine a shopping trip for my daughter's grad dress with this concert. Luckily, I was able to purchase tickets for the front section of the arena and had really good seats.

I had to convince my family to attend this concert because they prefer old rock and roll or pop music concerts. In the end, they were so thrilled to be sitting so close to the stage. The entire concert was absolutely fabulous. The music was a blend of jazz and pop music. The vocals and the music were perfect and the sound was quite enjoyable.

Over the past six years, I have continued to follow Maroon 5 and enjoy their music. It's the kind of music that grows on you. Lead singer, Adam Levine has a unique voice and stage presence. The band members write their own lyrics and music. The style of music fits the lyrics and can be described as funky pop. It's not often that you see an opening band in person that has had such success as Maroon 5.
