Marriage Records: How to Find Marriage Records Online Quickly and Easily
There are lots of places on the Internet where you can obtain free marriage records. Where you should begin your search will depend on why you need the records. For example, if you are looking for genealogy information, sites like Ancestry.com and RootsWeb.com can help you find the information. These sites offer free and paid subscription for their members. Marriage records can be the puzzle piece with which you put together your family tree. Of course, you might need more recent information. If you are looking for recent marital records, you will need to contact your local Department of Vital Records.

You can find out more about how to contact your local Department of Vital Records and how much it costs for a marriage record on the NCHS web site. This site lists information for all states. For example, on this site you will discover that it costs approximately $12 to obtain a copy of a marriage certificate. The state houses certificates from 1936 on up. If you are looking for records earlier than that, you'll need to go through a genealogy site. Of course, different states have different requirements. Therefore it is very important to understand the requirements for your state before making your request.
There are sites that can get the records for you online, for a fee. Akiba.com, Intelius.com and SearchSystems.net are examples of web sites where you can access all kinds of information and various documents including marriage records. The benefits of these sites is convenience. It doesn't take as long to get records from these sites as it takes from most local Vital Records offices. Of course, some Vital Records departments actually have websites where you can order the documents directly. It is important to research your options if you're looking for the cheapest and easiest way to obtain marriage records in your state.
