martial ars instructorsPerforming martial arts is one thing...teaching is completely another. To be a martial arts instructor, you must posses the desire to teach others what you do. With that teaching must come patience. I found it difficult when I first started teaching to have patience with some of my weaker students. But, I learned that all good martial arts instructors incorporate martial arts drills and katas. I found my weaker students became stronger and I learned patience. Everyone has to start somewhere, remember, you were once a young grasshopper too!

Martial Arts Instructors Must Think Outside The Box

Are you willing to try new things?

martial ars instructorsI learned through trial and error that you need to be flexible as a martial arts instructor an be able to think outside the box. In my own Dojo, I began losing students. After talking with an outgoing student I learned that my drills were boring and the student felt they had learned all they needed from me. This prompted me to search out new and interesting martial arts instructors drills that I found online which really opened me up to some new ways of doing things.

My classes began to have full attendance again and I found my students excited, as I was.

martial ars instructorsTo be a sucessful martial arts instructor you must have a passion for what you do. After all, this art is not just a job, it is a way of life. You always must be constantly learning...constantly growing. You must, yourself, perform karate drills and katas in order to be able to teach your students. I've found that using these karate drills has not only fine tuned my own martial arts skills, but they have also given me some good ideas of things to bring into a class.
