Maruti Swift

For those who don't know about swift, here is quick information. The Swift is an international car introduced by Suzuki. In India the Maruti Suzuki Swift was introduced around 7 years ago in a "Joint Venture between Maruti and Suzuki". The Swift was initially introduced in the petrol version and as you know that due to the rise in the petrol prices and huge difference in price between the petrol and diesel, there was a major demand for the diesel powered cars in India. In 2007, Maruti introduced its Diesel Swift which was a massive hit among Indian customers. However, the Petrol Swift is also a most popular among petrol engine lovers.

In 2011, the production of "Old Maruti Swift" in India was stopped for a short period of time and in a couple of months, the "New Maruti Swift" was rolled out in the Indian market with many upgrades and more features. The noteworthy change being 90 mm increase in length, 40 mm increase in wheelbase and 5 mm increase in width. This Swift is popularly known as Swift 2011.

The Petrol Swift powered by K Series Petrol engine with VVT technology is an 1197 cc, 4 cylinder engine mated to 5 speed transmissions. The petrol engine produces 87 ps @ 6000 rpm and max torque of 114 Nm @ 4000 rpm. The 16-valve light weight DOHC (Double Over Head Camshaft) engine with drive chain has got less friction and improved durability. The new engine now delivers increased power and improved fuel efficiency of 18.6 kmpl.

The "Diesel Swift" is powered by 1248 cc, 4 cylinder, 16 valve diesel engine which is an award winning "DDiS Diesel Technology". The diesel engine produces max power of 75 ps @ 4000 rpm and max torque of 190 Nm @ 2000 rpm. The 5-step Multi Injection Common Rail diesel engine delivers great power and excellent fuel efficiency of 21.5 kmpl.

You will be delighted to know that the New Maruti Swift is fitted with the New Generation Rally Based Suspension System for improved sporty handling and ride quality. The front suspension is McPherson Strut and the rear is Torsion Beam.

The new Maruti Swift interiors are stylish, the material and upholstery are of high quality and the steering wheel looks sporty. The swift has improved ergonomics; the center console is stylish and looks trendy. Other conveniences include retractable cup holders and easy to use storage pockets.

The Swift is equipped with the multi-information LCD display fuel consumption meter, low fuel warning lamp, 7-step illumination control odometer, trip meter, user friendly design instrument panel, lane change indicator and car locator.

The steering is tiltable and the driver seat can be adjusted to a comfortable height. The higher end car has an automatic climate control, high-end stereo with six speakers and steering mounted illuminated audio controls.

The new Maruti Swift is available in 3 variants both in petrol and diesel. The petrol variants are the LXi, VXi and ZXi and the diesel variants are LDi, VDi and ZDi. The petrol and diesel engine remains same across all variants. However, the features may differ.
