Beautiful Marvel Comics Superheroines Captured in Fine Art Collecitible Figurines

Marvel comic book superheroines are featured in Kotobukiya's line of bishoujo statues. Bishoujo means "pretty girl" in Japanese. This line of statues currently features Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff), Black Widow (Yelena Bolova), Scarlet Witch, Rogue, Psylocke, Phoenix, Dark Phoenix, White Phoenix Variant, Emma Frost the White Queen, The Black Cat, Ms. Marvel, and The Invisible Woman.

Statues based on comic book characters have become popular collector's items over the last twenty years. The hobby has increased in popularity as well as the artistry of the statues.


Kotobukiya produces the Bishoujo line of Marvel statues. Kotobukiya is a Japanese company that produces toys, model kits, fine are statues and much more. They have been producing beautiful statues for over 20 years and work with their country's leading designers and sculpters.


The Marvel Bishoujo collection is an example of the great talent showcased by Kotobukiya. Each statue shows a high level of detail and character. These statues began their release in January of 2009 and continue to be released as new characters are added to the line.

The statue design is the creation of illustrator Shunya Yamashita, one of Japan's great Bishoujo artist. The statue is sculpted by Yu Ishii. This beautiful piece stands 7 3/5 inches tall and is constructed of pvc and abs plastics.

Jean Grey is one of the founding members of the X-Men. Known as The Phoenix, she has telepathic and telekinetic powers. Tragically, her powers grew out of control, and soon she became the X-Men's greatest foe - The Dark Phoenix.

Sculpted by Koei Matsumoto, the Phoenix statue stands 9 inches tall. The pose is that of Jean Grey floating down from the air, her belt blown upwards and her hair snaking in the wind. The fire funnel beneath is that of her own making, a small example of her power.

The Phoenix statue has two variants - a Dark Phoenix version, and a White Phoenix version, signifying the rise of the Phoenix from the ashes once more.

The Black Cat is Spider-Man's femme fatale. She was introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man #194 as a thief. Over time and with Spider-Man's influence, she ceased her criminal ways and turned to fighting crime.

In this statue, the Black Cat is leaping to action, her fringe and ivory hair blowing with the breeze. She holds a diamond, her new acquisition, in her right hand.

Ms. Marvel is the ultimate female Avenger and one of the most powerful superheroines in the Marvel Universe She first appeared as her alter ego, Carol Danvers in Marvel Super-Heroes #13 (1968) and as Ms. Marvel in Ms. Marvel #1 (1977).

In this statue, Ms. Marvel is leaping into the air, taking flight. She is wearing her modern costume, her hands can be either presented as normal or be displayed with the cosmic bursts of her Kree-spawned power. Her hair and red belt curl in the breeze as the bolt emblazoned on her uniform contrasts the dark mystery of her heroic mystique.

The Ms. Marvel statue is designed by Shunya Yamashita.. It stands 9 1/10 inches tall and stands on a broken concrete base.

    This is a much better lens than the first one I saw with the same title.....the other one was like they didn't even really know much about comics. Well written and liked.

    I don't collect the Marvel Bishoujo Statues but they are quite beautiful. If I did not collect so much other stuff already they would be a good choice for me.
