X-Men Collectible Statues by Bowen Designs

Stan Lee created the X Men for Marvel Comics Universe. They first appeared in 1963, since then the characters have appeared in various media outlets, comics, TV shows, cartoons, movies, books and more. Each media format has brought in different types of fans and created new lovers of the legends that make X men.

Fans have grown up with the characters, other fans have become instant addicts. Part of the appeal of X-men is that it is not limited to children. This long running comic series has dealt with light hearted issues, but it has also dealt with harder issues that are part of the characters' lives and past.

Thus the range of things available for fans is incredible. There are toys and goodies. You can collect cards, games and sets. They have figures and statues. Perhaps what is the most incredible are the statues and busts created by Randy Bowen Designs. These statues are beautiful, detailed, and incredible addition to any collector's X-Men set and worthy to be proudly displayed at home or in the office.

X-Men History

Marvel SuperHeroes

X Men Poster on AmazonThe first comic book featuring X-Men was created by Stan Lee, famous writer of Marvel Comics Universe, and artist Jack Kirby. It was published September 1963. While this started the now wildly successful series, it was originally met with only a lukewarm reception.

In fact in 1970, the series was cancelled. With the Giant-Size X-Men in 1975, interest started growing. Chris Claremont became the main writer for the series and the series grew wildly popular during his 16 years as writer. By the early 1980s the series became a major point for many spin offs and miniseries. X-men had become the best-selling American comic books.

Variety of X-men Characters

If it is not the various media formats that brings people, the range in characters help. While many super heroes are perfect these super heroes are flawed. The good guys make mistakes and do not always know what to do. The bad guys are not entirely bad. They are real and they sometimes get mixed up and sometimes they do things because they are right not because they are "good" or "bad".

The variety of personalities helps people relate to the X-men. Many people can relate to the histories of particular X-men heroes and villains. That history also helps one see why the character decided on a particular direction or why they are confused. The emotions, the history, and personality of the characters has been captured beautifully in the statues below.

X-Men Wolverine

aka Logan aka James Howlett

Buy Wolverine Statues

Easily recognized by the adamantium claws that come out of his closed fist, Wolverine is known for being a bit of hot-head. Yet that temper is off-set by his compassion for those whom he cares about, such as various female X-men characters. He is also known by the name Logan and less so by his birth name James Howlett.

Some of his abilities include animal like senses and the ability to rapidly heal. This makes him almost indestructible, especially in addition to the adamantium skeleton that was added during his time on Team X, helping him to become Weapon X. The story of how he left the secret Canadian force to become part of Professor Xavier's X-men varies.

Eventually she questions her methods and joins the X-Men and will be part of the new movie X-Men: First Class to be released June 3, 2011. January Jones has been cast to play the White Queen. Jean Grey - Summers

aka Phoenix / Dark Phoenix

Buy Jean Grey

A popular X-Men she looks to Charles Xavier as a father figure. Cyclops / Scott Summers and Wolverine / Logan both have romantic feelings toward her as she does them. However her commitment is to Scott and eventually they marry. Her abilities are telepathic and telekinetic powers.

It is these abilities that help open her up to the Phoenix Force. The immense powers and the fact that she dies to open herself to them lead her to the name Phoenix. However the immense power corrupts her and leads to the Dark Phoenix and the Black Queen. The Black Queen is another character that is part of the Hellfire Club.
When the Phoenix departs from her, Jean Grey returns to the X-men drawn back them and Scott.

Super Villains

A world of super heroes must have super villains as a contrast. While there are times when villains help the heroes, there are plenty of others where their contrasting views cause fighting and conflict. Below are some of super villains Bowen Designs has brought into physical form.

I cut my reading teeth on Marvel comic books in the 60's and X-Men was one of my favorites. I had no idea that there were so many collectibles associated with them, though. Wow! What a collection you've assembled here of Marvel Comics X-men Statues by Bowen Designs. Excellent work!
