Marvel Mighty Muggs: Wolverine, Thanos, Silver Surfer, Galactus

Marvel Mighty Muggs are urban vinyl figures that hail from the Marvel Legends Comic Books series and are toys for children, as well as being considered collector items for adults and fans worldwide. These urban vinyl figures are six inches in height and can be posed in many different positions, with some even coming with props. "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman"

The Spiderman Mighty Mugg, Black Spiderman Mighty Mugg and Peter Parker Parker Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall. Marvel Mighty Muggs are widely popular right now because they have so much history behind the characters. Growing up in Russia, I am not familiar with so many comic book super heroes -- but my husband is an enormous fan and always educates me on the history of the characters. 

There are currently three versions available. The one above (in red and blue costume) is the typical one from the comic books, while the other Black Spiderman Mighty Mugg shown is from several chapters of the stories that has grown quite popular, where Spiderman wears a black costume. Black Spidey is actually part of the Marvel Mighty Muggs Wave 3 collection.

Now there is also a Peter Parker Mighty Mugg, which displays Peter Parker with half of his face wearing the Spiderman mask.  This is not actually part of the Marvel Mighty Muggs Wave 1 collection, but is an exclusive release and a collector's item that is expected to sell around $100.00 as we get closer to the holiday season.

"X-Men Mutant, Wolverine!"

This Wolverine Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall. Yes, I knew who this character was but was shocked as to his costume. Then my husband showed me the comic book version of Wolverine and it's pretty authentic. I am sure comic book fans will love this and I tried looking for it online and it was pretty hard to find less than $20.00 -- so good luck.  My husband has this one too and says it's a must have for any Marvel comic book collector.  :-)

"The Invincible Iron Man"

These Iron Man Mighty Muggs stands at 6 inches tall. With the enormous success of the movie Iron Man, these urban vinyl figures are not so easy to find. The one to the left is the comic book version, while the one directly to the right is not part of the Marvel Mighty Muggs Wave 1 collection, but is a limited edition movie version seen at San Diego Comic Con.

Both urban vinyl figures are hard to get.  Expect to pay a little more money for these Mighty Muggs, especially the movie version. I like the movie version best because it uses a higher gloss paint to the finish and it appears to be a metallic (or metal flake) paint. The head also looks more three dimensional, whereas the older "comic" version appears flat.

"The Menacing Evil Enemy of Spiderman - Venom!"

This Venom Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall. Rather scary looking, don't you think? His whole character really freaked me out in the Spiderman 3 movie, and when I saw what he looked like in the comic books, I was really mortified.  This is truly an evil character and you have to love the great detail done to this urban vinyl figure with tongue hanging out. I love this one, but it is a bit scary as I said. My husband does have this one. This is very hard to find and are extremely rare -- so get it while you can! Expect to pay around $45.00 for this one if you find it!

This Captain America Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall and comes with a shield prop. I like this one because to me, it represents America very well with it's colors, stars and stripes. Yes, I know that he is a comic book hero, but when I first saw him, I just liked him.  Again, maybe I'm biased because I am new to this country, but I really love America and love everything that represents it.  :-) You can find this online, but last I saw, it was selling for around $20.00.

"The Incredible Hulk!"

This Hulk Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall. This one always makes me laugh.  Doesn't he look like a baby throwing a temper tantrum and then suddenly stops to smile for the cameras? "Heee heee... whoooo whooo... grrrrrrrr!" :-) This is a favorite for my little niece's and nephews, as they always go after him when they want to play.  I suppose it's because of the green color.  The detail could be improved because he does look like an angry green baby -- but for now, it's cute enough I suppose.  :-) Easy to find as of now, so get it while you can. Sells for around $10.00 at Toys-R-Us.

"Dr. Doom!"

This Dr. Doom Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall. Is it just me, or does Dr. Doom look a little confused rather than sinister or menacing? I think this urban vinyl figure still looks good, but I strongly feel the expression on his face doesn't do him justice. Obviously many do nt agree with me, as this is not so easy to find online.  I managed to find a few going for around $20.00 though, so if you see one on a store, maybe grab it. :-)

"The Thing!"

This Thing Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall. I like the Thing.  He looks great, doesn't he? This one is sold out throughout many venues and hard to get -- but Amazon is selling it for around $25.00.  Ebay might be a better option for finding more competitive prices for this urban vinyl figure.

"Doctor Octupus!"

This Doc Ock Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall. I love this one! Great detail and comes with 4 mechanical arms attached to the backside. I really enjoyed the story of this character from the film -- a nice love story for background which made us pity him. This is a big hit with the little boys in our lives, but my little nieces (the girls) don't really like it.  :-) Expect to pay a little more than $10.00 on ebay (around $15.00). This is sold out at many other venues online, so try eBay first.

"Ghost Rider!"

This Ghost Rider Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall. Ok, this one looks like an evil skull baby to me.  :-)  I like the flame hair style a lot, but for some reason, the expression on his face just looks like Rosemary's baby to me. Scary! This is not so hard to find, as eBay has plenty of them selling for $10.00 - $16.00. Amazon is selling it for around $25.00 average price, so I suggest eBay.

"The Mighty Thor!"

This Thor Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall and comes with hammer prop. Another character I am unfamiliar with but I like the helmet. When I looked him up in the comics, this looks pretty good as for detail -- although this urban vinyl figure looks a bit more like a man who's ready build my house.  :-) When I searched for this online, it seems that Thor is quite popular and was sold out through most online venues. Again, it appears that eBay is the most favorable place to find this urban vinyl figure for a good price, so check there first.

"Black Costume Spiderman!"

This Black Spidey Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall. A great addition to Marvel fans because the Black Spidey outfit is a favorite amongst fans and children worldwide. My husband has this one obviously and bought it right away. I searched for it online and found some available on eBay for less than $10.00! Amazon appears to be selling this for around $16.00.  You can only find this online right now, as most retail outlets are out of stock.

"The Human Torch!"

This Human Torch Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall. Can't wait for this one to come out as well.  My favorite character of the Fantastic Four, by far! Have you noticed how much the Mighty Muggs have evolved? Look the head of this character as it takes the shape of the flame. This one is very different from the rest and from the looks of it, it appears Mighty Muggs will be starting to create more sophisticated designs with shapes.  This is a good thing, that's for sure!  This comes out in November of 2008 -- so be on the look out!

"Galactus!"

This Galactus Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall. Wow! Look at the detail of this Mighty Mugg! Like the Human Torch, Galactus' head takes on a whole new shape as opposed to the rest of the collection. I am so glad Mighty Muggs is offering these different elements for the characters.  It makes it so much more special for collectors, don't you think? Galactus is a big deal for most major comic book fans and collectors, so I suspect Galactus will be sold out quite fast. Grab it when it arrives in November of 2008, as this one will HUGE with kids and collectors! I love the design!

"Silver Surfer!"

This Silver Surfer Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall. This one is amazing, isn't it?  Don't you just love the silver surfboard prop?!!  :-)  One of my favorites and cannot wait until it comes out.  The detail looks great and it will look outstanding on any shelf wherever you keep your collection.  A must have if you collect!  I expect this one to be sold out fast when it arrives in November 2008, so be on the look out and grab it when you see it before the price goes up!

"The Red Skull!"

This Red Skull Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall. Ok, this one looks like the way a real enemy should -- it looks mean and scary.  :-)  I love the details of this skull painted face and the red color really applies that sinister feeling you get when you view it. The evil grin is very threatening and intimidating too. Being that this is an exclusive, good luck in finding this one online.  It appears eBay will likely be the only venue you will find this at a good price.  I expect this one to easily go for $100.00 or higher when the holidays come closer.

"Thanos!"

This Thanos Mighty Mugg stands at 6 inches tall. This is another one that looks great!  It appears that most of the "exclusive" designs will not disappoint, as they all look better in the design aspects than their "normal" counter parts. Attention to detail is great for Thanos and the expression of "evil grin" applies well here. Once again, with this being an exclusive, you can expect this one to be very difficult to find and expect to pay a lot more than its counter parts.
