Gospel Song By Marvin Sapp A Favorite The World Over
The very popular "Never Would Have Made It", from Marvin Sapp's "Thirsty" CD has taken the world by storm! It has topped Gospel music charts and even secular charts. The song resonates with everyone because of its simplicity and honesty. How could any of us make it without God's love and mercy?
Like many great gospel songs, "Never Would Have Made It", comes from a place of sorrow and deep pain. The beloved song was written after the death of Marvin Sapp's father, Henry Lewis Sapp, Jr. Pastor Sapp was responsible for handling his father's funeral and burial. "Never Would Have Made It" was created by divine inspiration the Sunday after his father's burial right in the pulpit of his church.
Pastor Sapp has been singing since the age of four, and has shared the stage with many gospel music artists. He describes himself as "not a singer that happens to preach, but a preacher called by God who is gifted to sing".
"Never Would Have Made It" is one of many black gospel songs that are now a permanent part of Gospel music history because it relates a simple, but universal message that everyone can relate to.

"The Lord said to me, 'Marvin, there's something you need to understand. Although your father isn't with you physically, I will never leave you nor will I forsake you. I will be with you always even until the end of the earth'. Then I walked into the pulpit with my Bible. When God began to assure me that He was there for me, I stood up. I grabbed the microphone and started singing, 'Never Would Have Made It'."

- I currently have seizures in my sleep. One night Nov. 2008 I had a seizure in my sleep, and I have continued having seizures. The fact that it only happens when I am sleeping and just about every other month, has confused every doctor I have been to in the last almost thee years concerning this. Needless to say I have no explanation, no reasons why, and no cure/resolution. Due to this medical issue, I developed SERIOUS anxiety problems. It was so bad, I was DEATHLY afraid of even going to sleep. It is nothing, and I mean nothing except for my total trust and faith in my Abba father that he is in control of this situation that allows me to close my eyes at night with a smile on my face. Thank you can in no way cover it.....by a long shot.

- It's been over four and seven months and 28 days since my double lung transplant. The doctors gave me on four months to live in 2006. I has an incurable lung diease and i was so sick i could'nt even walk i was confirmed to and wheelchair. my i never gave up i was put on thr transplant list in august of 2006 and four weeks later they call me for my transplant, without faith and the lord i never would have made i thanks the lord each and every day i open my eyes, lord i never would have made it without you. thank you lord.

- When my mother died. If I hadn't had my faith to lean on I probably would have lost my mind. I don't know how anybody makes it in this world without God in their life.

- thank you for the real inspirational song i lost my father too in oct 4 and its really hard for me and my two sister and two brother but this is like it was meant for us we lost our mother six years ago but we through all we had on our father but we lost him to lung ca so thank you again
