"In the spring of 1991 I thought it might be wise to write down the events of my life. I wanted to have a personal record to review when I became very old and too forgetful of mind to remember. This was to be the recording of my private soul sounds that nobody else would ever hear. But it was not to be. I've been advised, by reasons spoken and unspoken, to have this very private diary published. This idea was not sanctioned by me until the very last possible moment because I'd thought no one else was going to be reading my words, and I'd written as honestly and outspokenly as I could throughout the journal pages. I'd recorded my personal thoughts, memories and even confessions. In essence, this journal does indeed turn me inside out in respect to revealing my true thoughts and inner self to the public. But, as always, I abide by how I am guided; whether I will end up being chastised, ridiculed, embarrassed or exposed because of the publication of this book is not important anymore. So then, dear friends, I give you my total inner being. I now bring my private soul sounds to your ears, I give you..." - Mary Summer Rain

Review
No Eyes, a blind Chippewa visionary living in a remote Colorado area and Many Heart, a dreamwalker, are the teachers in this profound journey through the spirit world for Summer Rain. In the Ancient oral tradition they guide the novice along the true path to understanding of who she is and her place in the continuing life of their people. This is a wonderful look at the way knowledge has been passed from generation to generation with strong emphasis on what is good and what might trick the spirituality-seeking novice into taking a wrong path. Positive life is strengthened by the knowledge of the shaman, natural medicine, awareness of Mother Earth and the putting aside the unnecessary quest for things that don't matter, in order to enrich your soul. - From Independent Publisher

hello. I am searching for a quote from a book I believed was Spirit Song. However when I went to retrieve the words to ensure that i quoted No Eyes properly, I just can't seem to find it. The exact line that I remember is "the people no be so dumb no more". Is thias correct? Does anybody have the page number from Spirit Song or do I have the book wrong? It has been many years since I read it and I just can't recall the words. perhaps memorizing the book title and page number would have helped.

Everywhere we turn, nature is trying to bestow her gifts upon us whether we're ready to receive them or not. Here spiritual philosopher and naturalist Mary Summer Rain shows us how to open our eyes to see, how to open our ears to hear, and how to cultivate a perceptive mind and a sensitive heart so that we may gain access to the sacred knowledge of living right. We need to look beyond the awesome sunsets and beneath the splendid blanket of snow to where the true gifts lie, hidden, waiting for our minds to unwrap them and revel in their wisdom.

Eclipse

From the back cover
Having received thousands of letters over the years since the release of her question-and-answer book Daybreak, it became clear to Mary Summer Rain that there were still far too many unanswered questions in the minds of her readers. And during those years, to, her own knowledge and spiritual philosophy evolved into one of great scope and depth. In books such as "The Visitation" and "Fireside", she provided tantalizing glimpses of that natural evolution of thought.

Eclipse is in many way an attempt to honor readers' concerns and ongoing personal question on life and spirituality, which are usually prompted by their desire to figure out how the universe works, and how they may individually apply universal truths in their own lives. Eclipse addresses a vast array of subjects -- from the feminine principle to sexuality, from Starborn matters to the interconnectedness of all living things as manifested through the Great Web of Life, from the feminine aspects of the Divine Trinity to the spiritual ills of modern society. Mary doesn't claim to have all the answers, and her answers are not always what you'd expect.

In Eclipse, Mary responds to many common and uncommon questions, in the inimitable, straightforward, no-nonsense, and sometimes even exasperated (but always patient) fashion that has been her trademark. What emerges is a consistent philosophy that applies clear logic and spiritual truths to the problems of our age.

Trined in Twilight

From Publishers Weekly
On her newest foray into metaphysics, Rain, author of 21 spirituality books, offers a useful corrective to popular psychology's fixation with the inner child. We each have an inner child, Rain suggests, but we also harbor a wise grandparent who requires as much attention as the latent youth. The significance of the title (a trine is a group of three) is explained in this extended metaphysical parable as Mary's Little Self (or inner child) visits her Granny (or Crone). Middle-aged writer Mary does not appear herself during the visit, but her presence is felt by constant references to "the Mother." The visit takes place in 2040, and Little Self is surprised at some of the changes--the fax machine and computer are gone, and the lilac trees that Little Self remembers as young saplings have grown. Granny and Little Self share many touching moments. When Little Self realizes she is terrified that Granny/the mother will die, Granny comforts her. Little Self gradually understands that she and Granny are different aspects of the same being: as soon as she asks if Granny loves the fall, Little Self realizes that "of course" she does. "We always did, didn't we?... All three of us." Granny also teaches Little Self a few lessons, reminding Little Self that sometimes she, the inner child, "break[s] through the Mother's consciousness at inappropriate times." Fans of visionary fiction will be inspired by this spiritual encounter.

In a series of fireside chats, she brings together the wisdom of a lifetime of experiences, study, and deep contemplation. In a quiet dialogue with a close friend, Mary covers subjects such as "quantum meditation" and "virtual meditation" (terms she herself has coined), the meaning of value, what real power is, the wisdom of silence, unconditional goodness, what children need to be taught, the eight qualities of wisdom, the nature of the web of consciousness, the enlightened physicists, and much more, including a few predictions for the future. There is even a close encounter of the "bear" kind. Fireside is one of the most fascinating and instructive books Mary Summer Rain has ever written.

From the back cover
The Anasazi people lived in pueblos on the plateau area of the American Southwest from around 100 to 1300 A.D. In this unique book, Mary Summer Rain has brought forth the beauty and sensitivity of the Anasazi heart by recreating many of the chants used by one Anasazi community called the Spirit Clan. The information came from "spiritual memory recall," whereby she received, in deep meditative states, both the words and the spirit of the words, thus overcoming many differences in language. As Mary Summer Rain writes, "...the reader needs to read these ancient chants as prayers from the heart." An explanatory background note accompanies each chant.

These chants, prayers, and songs not only are works of poetic beauty, but also have many practical uses. There are healing chants, marriage songs, medicine prayers, child sleep songs, chants for a broken heart, and many others. It's both a stunning and very practical book.

Can you tell us how she is doing and what she is doing lately? Is she still living with Sally? Still having to work outside the home to make ends meet? Is she working on any new books (I hope!)?I also live in CO and met her years ago when she used to shop in the New Age bookstore I worked in, but was always too shy and afraid to impose to go up and talk to her! Sometimes I wish I'd been less so. Oh well. Her work has meant so much to me. It stands apart in integrity and beauty, in my humble opinion. I've written to her through her publisher once or twice but never heard back. I'd love to hear how she is. I have longed wished for another chance to meet her in person but it seems not meant to be. I'd settle for knowing how she is doing and that she's happy! [in reply to Larry]
