Who the heck is that turtle-lovin' lensmaker?

Hard to believe it's been only a few short months since I started messing around with Squidoo. I stumbled on the Squidiverse through Zazzle, where I collaborate on a shop, Karate Kat Graphics, with my 3 kids--ages 10, 10, and 12. At first I thought it would just be an avenue to promote Zazzle products, and that's certainly a legitimate purpose. But I soon discovered that was just the tip of the tip of the iceberg that is Squidoo.

Listening to more experienced lensmasters, as well as the SquidTeam, it seems a few key messages come up again and again. Write what you know, write what you love, write what you're passionate about. My lenses don't always have a ton of bells and whistles, and some are--by design--pretty compact. But they all relate to things I care deeply about, in one way or another, or things that make life more manageable and more fun. If you take time to browse the lenses below--and in that case, heartfelt thanks!--I hope you'll find a common thread of balance, intuition & common sense, with a little nerdy mischief thrown in for good measure.

Oh--and for the record, I'm crazy about sea turtles. A lens (or 10) on them is surely in my future :)

My Favorite Charity

I end every lens with a donation module for Save the Children, because I really believe in the power of time-tested organizations like this one to chip away at the problems faced by children in dire need, both in the USA and around the world. Save the Children receives half the proceeds from our Zazzle shop, plus the kids give half their earnings from a youth art fair each July 4 to this organization, and as a family we include it in our charitable giving every year. If you have a few dollars to spare, you can't go wrong with these folks. Their words:

Save the Children is the leading independent organization creating lasting change in the lives of children in need in the United States and around the world. Recognized for our commitment to accountability, innovation and collaboration, our work takes us
