Learn how to massage your baby properly and get pampering!

I always heard that babies should be massaged after bath as a part of their bedtime routine.

My girl was a very fussy baby. Bedtime routine? We didn't know what it was until few weeks after her birth. I would lay her on my bed and try and all I got was screaming! It was hard to persevere, plus I really didn't know what I was doing and was scared to death to hurt her tiny body.

Well, once I did my reasearch (which proved that infant massage is a wonderful thing) and my husband and I mastered the massaging technique, it became our favourite part of the day. My husband became particularly good and kinda took over, and since little madam was on the boob most of the times, it was nice to hand her over after bath and have a little time to myself.

They have since developed an amazing bond and I truly believe that it was helped by him nurturing and showing his Daddy love this way.

Here we are, after bath, waiting for the best part of the day: some baby and Daddy bonding!

Benefits of infant massage

I have done quite a bit research on infant massage and they all agree on the following:

  • It relaxes your baby

  • Helps digestion and releives infant gas and colic

  • Enhances the bonding with your little one

  • It's nurturing and loving - just what a baby needs!

  • Aids brain and muscle development

  • Stimulates your baby's respiratory system and reduces coughs and nausea problems

  • Promotes communication

  • Improves your baby's sleep

Great article. I, too, love massaging my son and find that it helps to relax him before bed. Thank you for pointing out the lullabies. We have been using our cot mobile and we are getting quite fed up at this point lol. Keep up the great work!
