Our collection of Mata Ortiz pottery dates back to the earliest of ollas that Juan Quezada and family creaeted in the late 1960s, before he was 'discovered' by Spencer MacCallum who was the key figure in bringing his work to the worldwide market.

We traveled regularly to the village, which is only a 3 hour drive from our New Mexico home, and met virtually every potter who worked there up to the present. Many remain our close personal friends to this day and visit us often when they travel north.

Mata Ortiz pottery represents some of the finest hand made pottery in the world and is still in its flourescent period with new styles being created every day. It is one of the most exciting art forms available to the collector.

We would be happy to be of assistance to anyone with serious questions about this subject.

Please visit our personal webpage at Mataortizart.com for an overview of Mata Ortiz pots from that point to the present.
