Math Is Fun
Learning math can be fun. Honest!
Sometimes it seems that the numbers involved in maths will never make sense. But if you keep at it, they usually do turn out to make sense.
We all need to know some math. Otherwise we'd be short changed in shops and never know it.
So how do you make learning math fun? Even if it wasn't your favorite subject at school?
There are plenty of resources available at places like Amazon to help you teach math to your children. So that's a good place to start looking.
There are also systems available for immediate download. So if you're the impatient type, take a look at Making Math More Fun. Check out the sample pages (linked right at the end of the page) to see what you'll be getting.
A lot of the trick with turning math from a "Oh no!" subject into one that your children will enjoy is the fun aspect. If a subject is dry and boring, that is how your child will see it.
Math is everywhere. So use it whenever you are out with your child. Counting traffic lights that you drive through. Working out how many seconds the "walk now" signal has before it appears again. Comparing the unit price on the goods you're buying in the supermarket or even adding up the trolley as you go along. All this counts as math.
So does how many portions a cake can be cut into and how much each portion will cost. Or how much each French fry cost in that Happy Meal. Or how much is saved by buying the deal items together rather than separately.
You might also want to check out a software based system like Succeed in Math, which offers a 2 day trial so you can check whether or not your child gets on with the software before parting with any cash.
Spark your imagination and be open to all the places that math creeps in to our daily life. Once you start to do this, you can start introducing new ways for your child to learn math and have fun doing it.
