In a duel of Maui and Kauai, I'd still go with Maui. Oahu is very busy.

I'll bet I can find a whole lot to like about every single island. Can't wait to explore Hawaii off the beaten path. Thanks for providing some excellent comparisons here. Appreciated!

There's a lot of traffic where I live too (Las Vegas), but the dryness is good for my lungs. If I ever get to Hawaii, I know I'll be amazed by its beauty, history and culture. Wish I could go now! Thanks for sharing this comparison of the two islands.

Love this. I have never been to Hawaii. After reading this, I am now fascinated by Oahu since it seems a lot more urban but Maui seems awesome because it's less urban and probably less crowded. Food for thought for future travel!

Both seem very beautiful and I'd love to visit both someday.
  • Michey Mar 1, 2011 @ 8:57 pm | delete
I thing if you want just vacation: sun, great accommodation, great weather... it is Maui
If you like history of the Hawaiian Islands, or Pearl Harbor attach history then Oahu is the place to go, it also has sunny beaches, great hotels and services.
    I love both of them
