The Problem With Max Baucus

Senator Max Baucus is a Democrat in name, but in the United States Senate, he has acted more like a Republican, supporting the worst ideas of the failing Republican Party rather than embracing the reasonable ideas that the Democrats have to offer.

This lens explores the record of Senator Max Baucus as he begins his run for re-election looking forward to 2014. It's not that we support the campaigns of any of the Republicans maneuvering to replace Max Baucus in the U.S. Senate. Goodness, no. They're just as bad as Baucus.

We do wonder, however, whether the Democrats of Montana wouldn't do better to just kick Baucus out in 2008, and start fresh. It's embarrassing to Democrats see Senator Baucus keep on making a jerk out of himself.

BaucusCare Caters To Finance

The health care proposal put forward by Montana Democrat Max Baucus serves the interests of finance quite well, but for those of us who want health care, it's bogus.

Max Baucus And The Eighteen Democrats Who Betrayed Freedom

On February 11, 2008, Max Baucus and 17 other Senate Democrats betrayed liberty

On Tuesday, February 11, 2008, the United States Senate voted to give the President of the United States permanent powers to use electronic networks to spy against Americans without having to give any explanation to anybody. Nobody, not even the United States Congress short of impeachment, will have the power to stop the President from listening to Americans' telephone calls, reading their emails, and watching where they go and what they do on the Internet.

They passed the FISA Amendments Act. Yes, every single Republican who was present in the Senate today voted in favor of this terrible law. That includes Republican presidential candidate John McCain. The law could not have been passed, however, if those Republicans were not joined by 18 traitorous Democrats.

Max Baucus was among them.

Max Baucus Votes For The FISA Amendments Act

Baucus favors government spying against Americans

The FISA Amendments Act is a law that has let criminals off the hook. When big corporations violated their legal contracts with customers and broke the law by helping George W. Bush spy on the personal, private communications of millions of Americans, the honorable thing to do would have been to hold them accountable for their crime.

Max Baucus decided to do the dishonorable thing. He decided to rewrite the law to retroactively legalize the crime, and let the corporations off the hook.

Baucus should be sued along with the Obama Administration, The legislative branch, IRS, in the Supreme Court of America. The American people should be the ones to sue Baucus and everyone else mention above. Just imagine the biggest class action lawsuit in the world like over 200 Million people. Image the lawsuit being titled American vs US government. I wonder who would win. Baucus is a fascist who thinks force people to buy health insurance with threat of jail time for not buying. Baucus is a monster.

I am not opposed to either a private industry oriented or a public ownership oriented public health care plan, but requiring people to purchase health insurance constitutes a taking of private property for public use without just compensation. (The insurance plan one will be made to purchase is not just compensation because it can never be worth what it cost, even assuming it is transferable, in any second hand insurance market.) The right to not have your property taken by the government without just compensation is something that set america apart from the Nazis, the Stalinists, etc. The only reason that the Baucus plan requires the purchase of health insurnance policies is for the sake of health insurance company stock holders. Doctors, lawyers, and health insurance companies deserve to be regulated because they are involved in selling dangerous and therefore intrinsically fraudulent products and services, but it should not be a crime just to be alive in the USA.

the American people deserve a good health care system with a public option, and you were elected to help deliver that. Is the 3.1 million you received from health care and insurance agencies perhaps blocking your vision of what you wanted for the citizens of this country? Shame on you and all the blue dogs like you. You don't deserve the office that you hold.
