I Also Grew Up Watching Maya the Bee

This educational cartoon that was made in 55 episodes was broadcasted on TV when I was a kid. I adored it! It was one of the most popular cartoons in Europe during 1980's.

Today, my babygirl is watching it also. I don't mind since there is so many good things she can learn watching this cartoon. Every episode offers some new tips on what's appropriate behavior, how to act in certain situations, how people act toward animals, to help one another, etc.

It's really excellent educational cartoon. So, if you gonna let you kid watch some cartoons, let this one be among them! There is so much a kid, or even an adult, can learn!

How Maya the Bee Was Created?

Cartoon character made on book character

Believe it or not, original character was created almost a century ago! German writer of children's books Waldemar Bonsels wrote in 1912 a book about little bee Maya and her adventures.

He masterfully crafted a book in which the insect world is a metaphor/allegory of the humans'. Its stories are about compassion, love, loss, loyalty, heroism, life and death, even ethics, and maybe provide the reader with a better understanding of the world's diversity.

Maya's story starts from the moment the little bee is born. Although she was supposed to be a working bee, she is too inquisitive to be satisfied with that, so she leaves the beehive to learn more about the world. Every creature she encounters and every experience, good or bad, seem to bring a bit of wisdom into little Maya's mind and eventually into the reader's.

This is a book that was written almost a century ago in Europe, yet it's as great a read today as it was the first day it was published. It's a book rich in many ways: the stories are fascinating, endearing, meaningful and told in a form that is intellectually evolved enough to be enjoyed by an adult, yet very accessible to a child's level of comprehension.

Meet Maya the Bee Cartoon Characters

Maya

The main character of the story, an inquisitive, adventurous and somewhat flighty young honeybee. She is very curious little bee that thinks there is more to world than her beegarden so flights around asking all kind of questions. She always acts friendly to others.

The Adventures of Maya the Bee (A Story in Jazz)

The music is phenomonal, the lyrics are so well-written the story is exciting and is inspirational for all children, but girls especially would appreciate this strong, brave bee, the heroine of the story. I think the planet would be a much more evolved place if more children could become interested and obsessed with music like this.
