Make the most of your vacation on the beach in Mazatlan

Imagine yourself on vacation on the beach in Mazatlan - sun, sand, and waves, and lots of fun and relaxation!

But where should you stay to make the most of your vacation? Mazatlan has a surprising variety of options as far as lodging goes, so don't limit yourself to just the mega resorts that show up on the top of the lists. Read on, and you're sure to find an interesting alternative for Mazatlan lodging that will make your vacation even better than you dreamed!

Mazatlan Lodging Option #1 - Beachfront Resorts in the Golden Zone

The best known option for lodging in Mazatlan are the beach front resorts found in the Golden Zone. There's quite a few, and they each have their own flavor, but they're all located directly on the beach, so you can enjoy Mazatlan's most valuable resource - the sun and sand - to the max!

Of course, the Golden Zone is also the busiest, noisiest, and most crowded area of Mazatlan, so if you're looking for peace and quiet and relaxation you might prefer some of the other options for Mazatlan lodging.

Here's a link for more detailed info on Mazatlan Lodging in the Golden Zone.

Mazatlan Lodging Option #2 - Mazatlan Hotels (not on the beach)

Another lodging option for your vacation in Mazatlan is to stay in one of the fine Mazatlan hotels which are not directly on the beach. These hotels are mainly located in two different areas, either downtown or in front of Avenida del Mar (Seaside Avenue). Many of them can still provide you with a great view of the ocean, and you still have access to the beach, it's just not quite as convenient. For example, for the hotels on Avenida del Mar, they're located in front of the Malecon (a beautiful seafront promenade), so to go from your hotel to the beach you have to cross the Avenue and then go down the steps from the Malecon to the actual beach.

There are two main motivations for choosing one of these hotels for your lodging in Mazatlan. If you're interested in an economical vacation, some of these Mazatlan hotels that are not right on the beach can give you a really great deal. On the other hand, if what you're looking for is a boutique hotel instead of a mega resort, some of the hotels in the downtown area will be right up your alley!

Mazatlan Lodging Option #3 - Mazatlan Bed & Breakfasts

A little known option for lodging during your vacation in Mazatlan is to stay in a bed and breakfast. There are several bed and breakfast inns in different parts of the city. None of them are directly on the beach, but they each offer a unique atmosphere which can give your vacation a special flavor!

Mazatlan Lodging Option #4 - Mazatlan Vacation Home Rentals

Staying in a vacation rental in Mazatlan is another great option. There are a few vacation rentals that are right on the beach, but not many, and they're located in different parts of Mazatlan, some in the tourist areas and others in more residential areas. Although "vacation rental" is a broad term, most of them will offer you a more comfortable "homey" feel on your vacation, and the prices can be very reasonable.

Mazatlan Lodging Option #5 - Mazatlan Condos

Renting a condo in Mazatlan can make for a great vacation! There's quite a large variation in size, location, and services offered among the condos available in Mazatlan, so you need to check each condo carefully to see how well it suits you. Some Mazatlan condos are located in a resort, and others are separate.

Mazatlan Lodging Option #6 - "El Rancho" Beach Resort

Of course, we always want to save the best for last (though we have to admit we are a little bit partial!). "El Rancho" is not for everybody, but it's a charming little resort right on the beach that offers a unique set of advantages. It's not in the Golden Zone, which means you don't have to put up with all the noise and the pesky vendors that are found there. And though it is a resort, it doesn't have typical hotel rooms, but rather individual "villas" which are like small vacation homes that are perfect for a family to stay all together. Sound interesting? It really is perfect for a relaxing vacation!

Mazatlan Lodging - Our Recommendation: "El Rancho" Beach Resort

If you really want to enjoy the beautiful Mazatlan beach, but you also want to relax in a peaceful atmosphere, "El Rancho" is the place for you!

We stayed in a nice big condo in the golden zone after much research we found a Mazatlan condo rental 1/2 block from beach and loaded with all the amenities we wanted but what made it our choice was sleeps up to 9 [our family is 6], patio, pool in gated comm. 42" HDTV, free computer to use kept the kids quiet at night, the custom spanish interior and being off the main drag it was quiet at night and you could escape crowded touristy areas unlike a hotel/resort.
